KDS AV-195TF Vs. Veiwsonic PF 790 monitor

Ok, I am buying a new monitor and I narrow it down to two. The KDS Av-195TF and the Viewsonic PF 790. Which is better? I notice the Viewsonic is 25 dollar more, but if the quality is better the 25 means nada. Please advise, I know the people on this forum is knowledgeable.

Thanks guys!

They are both good monitors - I would suggest comparing them side by side if you have the means. I prefer Viewsonic monitors, but that's just my preference.

You've narrowed it down to two pretty good monitors. I have the AV195TF but I could have bought the Viewsonic in a heartbeat as I feel they are about the same in features and quality.
It's going to have to be your decision and I suggest looking at both of them and decide.
I can say this in comparison. The Viewsonic does run cooler than the KDS which appears to run a little hot at the top of the vents. If you're going to put that monitor in a tight area you may want to consider the temperature.

Thanks guys,
I bought the KDS Av-195TF at onvia because of the coupon and the discount. 400 - 25(coupon) - 37.5 (10 % discount) = $337.5. Not bad I guess.

Could you please explain how to do this? Or where I can find the coupon, and this 10% discount thing???

Jgtdragon,

The decision depends on what kind of user you are. The designs are basically sound for either model.

The KDS uses a Sony Trinitron tube with the same control electronics as the Sony. I have a Sony 20" at work and the KDS-195T at home. The KDS and Sony monitors provide every control for the end user to optimize the display quality from shparening the focus to minimizing distortion. I turned away from the Viewsonics because they lack these features. The KDS is essentially a Sony at 2/3 the price.

If you are a demanding user, you want to pick the KDS or pay full price for a Sony. If you don't care much about adjusting your equipment or are afraid to touch the controls, Viewsonics is for you.

Could anyone please give me an idea on how I do this? I really want to get this monitor at this price.🙂

I've had by PF790 for almost 9 months now. It's a EXCELLENT monitor. Even better than my Samsung 900NF in some respects...

Well Blain was kind enough to show me the coupon. Now does anyone know about this 10% discount thing. Please

I had a bad experience with KDS tech support when my VS-7 went bad (long before it should have). I ended up just buying a new monitor and decided to go with a Viewsonic A90. I am much happier with my Viewsonic than I was with KDS.

riceboi5 - or anyone else:

You mentioned that you own both the Viewsonic PF790 and the Samsung 900NF. This is interesting to me as I have narrowed down my monitor search to these identical 19" models.

I am interested in your opinion as to why the Viewsonic PF790 is in many ways better than the Samsung 900NF. pros? cons?

I'm kind of leaning toward a Viewsonic PF790 myself, but I'd like to hear what your opinions are having tried both.

If anyone else here has had experience with both monitors, I'd certainly like your opinion.

Ok, maybe im an idiot, but I dont see onvia listed at pointclick. Im looking at the computer/electronic category on the right.

They aren't always there, they'll be back tomorrow (after the Onvia coupon has expired, unfortunately.) Does anyone know whether the 10% rebate applies for the times that Onvia isn't on the pointclik list?

It was there for me. However last time I saw a deal like this they weren't there. Oh and it was under the computer/electronic category.

Yup that's the deal. You have to get the rebate from pointclick. The coupon from techbargains worked for me, but expired at midnight. That's why I was so impatient once I found the coupon. Either way I paid $374.98 shipped, and have to wait for my $37.50 in the mail.

🙂🙂🙂I am quite happy with this deal to say the least!🙂🙂🙂

I'm glad you did too. 😉

Thanks again man. I really appreciate it.🙂

The best part is a friend just bought this same exact one for almost $100 more. I already told him, and let's just say he's not quite as happy as I am. 😀

I went with him looking at monitors. We compared the Viewsonic PF790 to this side by side, and I liked this better. This was a while ago. We went back again two weeks ago to do one more look, before he bought one (at buy.com), and the Viewsonic looked about 10 years old. The picture was barely there. They had a totally shot monitor on display at best buy. That, and some guy there (a customer) saying he had the KDS, and loved it, was more than enough to convince me. Funny thing is the KDS was cheaper, and just seemed much nicer to me. Also I already have a Mitsubishi monitor, and wanted to try a Sony tube this time.

😀😀😀Oh BTW did I mention I was HAPPY? Naw guess not!!!😀😀😀
