KDS AV-195TF question when using BNC cable

A friend has an AV-195TF and has been having an intermittent problem when booting up. Sometimes, the screen only displays the RGB box that says the monitor is working ok and you should check the cable or video card for signal lose. A re-boot solves the problem. He tried another HD15 cable and video card, but the problem remains. I suggested trying a BNC cable but I did not see any monitor switch or selection in the OSD to change to a BNC input. My own 2 monitors are used with a BNC cable and both monitors have a switch to choose BNC or HD15 input. Is there anything that needs to be changed when using a BNC cable on the AV-195TF or does this monitor automatically detect the type of cable being used? Or, is there something else that causes this problem on boot-up?

The same thing happens to my bro's system with the KDS 19" monitor (not Trinitron but another model), and like your friend, a reboot solves this problem.

I have the 17" KDS (Trinitron model) but I don't experience the same problem he does. Go figure...

I don't think this would work. My AV-195TF doesn't have connectors so a BNC cable can not be connected.

I might be losing my mind, but I thought I ran the AV-195TF on my BNC cable. I only used it for 2 days, and my own 2 monitors use BNC, so I thought I was using my BNC on the KDS. When you play with 3 monitors all at once it can get confusing. I'll have to have my friend check the back of his 195TF for BNC connectors.

Maybe it's a videocard issue? Try a different computer with it or swap out the videocard with another. I've seen that happen ONCE with an older ATI AGP in a new Asus A7V133.

Good Luck!

He replaced the video card and also the cable, but the problem still remains. Since he can't try a BNC cable, the next step will probably be to connect it to another computer for a while. If it still does it after that, it might be time to call the KDS replacement service. I hope it doesn't come to that, because picture wise, the monitor is about as good as it gets and you never know what the next one will look like.
