I was expecting a much more improved image from my VS195 after the upgrade but the difference is not as much as all the Trinitron zealots make it to be. Images are very slightly finer grained and colours are just a bit more vivid, but the screen is flat and this is what my eye doctor wanted me to buy. I saw it side-by-side with a Sony G400 and a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro (or was it Plus, can't remember). Couldn't tell the difference (the Sony has the exact same CRT as the KDS). The thing is slightly longer than my VS195 and runs just as hot.
I'm still having problems with the geometry. No matter what I try, some lines still seem to not quite meet at right angle, even though all the outside frame is perfectly square. Might be an optical illusion due to my strong eyeglasses. Or might be part of the Trinitron design.
