I was looking for the Sony on Click'n'Pull at their website, but could not find it. However I found this. I couldn't find any reviews on it. It seems good from the specs. I used to have KDS Trinitron, and that was excellent.

The Avitron's should be better since they have Trinitron tubes...But this is a really good price for a flat 19 incher...

Non-Sams Club member looking for confirmation.

Does Sams give price confirmations over the phone? I know Costco won't tell you their prices over the phone.

Xtreme Flats from KDS suck.. atleast this new 17" im using at works seems to have a geometry problem.. everyone here in the co gotta upgrade.. but theres a geometry problem.. its difficult to explain in text.. easier if i were to just show you, but thats not possible. Ill try my best ... when you have a window open ie. internet explorer. you maximize the window.. it appears that the whole screen gets larger .. then when you minimize the screen gets smaller.. does that make sense?

Ive also used an Avitron 17" in the past.. they seemed to be a lot better display wise.. these Xtreme Flats appear to be manufactured with cheap POS parts. You could tell by looking at it.

EDIT: I thought it was just mine but it appears that every single monitor in the co seems to do the same thing:(

Avitron=the cheapest, best series of monitors for a good long while, made out of Trinitron tubes. You were basically getting a Sony Trinitron monitor for half the price.

Then they figured out that they could make more money by making their own POS parts and selling them under the reputation they gained selling Avitron monitors.

Kendog,
This is common when the screen brightness changes. You'll see cheaper TV sets do the same thing. I think the term is 'blooming', the picture gets bigger when the screen gets brighter. It is caused by the monitor's power supply changing voltage under differing load.
In summary - they cut corners.

I picked one up yesterday.

It's alright. However, if you want to go above 1152 X 864, forget about it.
Any rez higher than that and you get some bad flicker. (1280 X 1024 @ 85)
They had a Sony G400(I think, don't remember) 19" flat screen for $299.
There was a really informative and helpful employee there, he told me I have 90 days to return the monitor for a refund.
I'm still debating on whether or not to go with the Sony. My wife thinks anything over 1024X768 makes the text too small, so I don't think I will be using the rezs over 1152 X 864.

If you stay at or under 1152 X 864, it's a pretty nice monitor. The text is crisp all over and colors are pretty good.
I'm going to keep it at least a couple more weeks, then I'll decide if I want to trade it up to the Sony or go over to Office Depot and get the A90F Viewsonic.

Some monitors flicker at certain resolutions and refresh rates at times due to some interference nearby. It is possible you have a transformer, power brick, cable, hub or even speakers which is causing the flicker. Try placing it at another location to see if this is the problem.

I use 1280x1024 on a 19" monitor and personally find it the optimum resolution.

If the money is not a major problem, I'd go with the Sony. Unfortunately, none of the Sam's Club in South Florida seem to have it. Please, anyone, if they find one, let us know.

takyhon, going to 1280 X 1024 warps the display slightly, as standard computer monitors and consumer TV sets have a 4 X 3 width/height ratio. Try setting your display at 1280 X 960 to get properly "square" pixels.

If this isn't an option in your display properties, get the "Power Strip" utility and make it an option.

In general, if you calculate the number of pixels either 12 X 10 or 12 X 9 gives you, you'll find that a typical 0.25 mm dot-pitch 19" monitor is going to top out at that resolution anyway. Yes, 19" monitors can "display" 16 X 12, and maybe even higher, but they can't clearly resolve individual pixels, so things get fuzzed out.
