I have been thinking about getting a 17" LCD but cannot find anything under $500 so I am considering this KDS monitor...is this a good monitor and what would be considered a great price for this monitor?:D:confused:

Probably goes in the Video section, but...

I think the Avitrons look great with the Sony Trinitron tube. Even if they don't have the best build quality, the price and ADVANCED REPLACEMENT more than make up for it. I'd say if you can get a good price, go for it. What is a good price? Keep in mind a "non trinitron (cheaper)" KDS 19" monitor goes for about $220 new on a good day ($260 plus rebate? or similiar). For a *tron tube, expect to pay about the same price so hopefully less than $220.

I agree with the above. I have KDS monitors, and the AV-7T (not the F version). It's a great monitor. I'd say if you have the money, go with something larger 19" or 21". Although those bost quite a bit, you will benefit alot from increased workspace. I'm suffering as it is on the 17" when I want to work with multiple applications.

As far as pricing, I got my monitor 2 years back for $200 ($250 - $50 rebate). I would suggest using pricewatch to search for the best price or go to your local best buy. Sometimes they have good deals. Soemtimes. ;) I think I've seen this monitor for around $180 or so.

My friend has it and it's beautiful. If you can spring for a little extra cash, get the AV-195TF, 19" version. Only $360 including shipping.
