Kde packages-3.5.10

This would probably be a better topic for the Apple forum ....

I had no idea you could run KDE on a Mac. Interesting.

So that has nothing to do with Linuxmint KDE!

Nope.

Linux Mint KDE is on the KDE 4.x release these days.

If you are interested in trying KDE I would suggest just downloading the KDE version of Mint or Kubuntu and giving it a shot. Trying to get KDE working in an otherwise GTK based system can be a bit frustrating.

I think Mint KDE is pretty good. I also run Mint 14 KDE but I upgraded my KDE to version 4.10.2 by adding the kubuntu back ports. Mint 14 is running KDE 4.9 which is a little dated by this point.

You're right, today i tried lubuntu 12.04 that i had an ISO cd around at first i liked but when i tried to configure the output to my HD tv i could never do it
so since iḿ not very savey on this i took the easier route and got back to mint14kde which does everything for you one doesn't have to move a finger, that what i like,how do i get 4.9 and is it worth it to update to 4.10.02, and will it not cause problems to the original mint14kde installation,give the commands to upgrade to 4.10, thanks in advance

I did not have any problems upgrading except I had to reinstall my Catalyst drivers from a console boot before my video would work in X11 after the upgrade. If I was to do it again, I would remove the proprietary video drivers first, upgrade, then install the video drivers after complete.

Anyhow, the commands are pretty easy:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

As always, making a quick backup of your /home is a good idea before making major changes!

Dave It's me again, i forgot to ask what are the benefits of the upgrade?
i use the PC more for Streaming live soccer events in HD where available,
what i can easily do with the present set up.

Frank,

For your setup there probably isn't much of a benefit. I like to play around with the latest versions of things more as a hobby than anything else. If you are happy with your setup then there really isn't a compelling reason to upgrade. Honestly, upgrading will probably break something that is working now. Not saying it can't be fixed, but doing a distro upgrade is always a dicey thing.

The following link can show what what the improvements are from 4.9 to 4.10:
