KC Ice Storm Again

My daughter runs the FYE at the Overland Park Mall,
lives over near Grandview in South KC - fun drive this morning.

(That would be the Oak Park Mall)

it isn't so bad, i made 45 MPH coming into work, but i didn't leave home until after 9 am

i am going to leave around 2 pm though before it gets too cold and the snow gets too heavy

for your entertainment - retail store in a mall

they sell xbox and games and electronics

i bought my xbox from the one in the oak park mall, i thought that was the only one in KC

Hevnsnt - I'm about 5 hours west of you, and we had the ice yesterday and early evening. We have at least 4 inches of snow on top of that. Lucky the power (read heat) is still on, for the moment. I have family in Olathe, hope things don't get too bad in your neck o' the woods.

the power went off in the house right after i left for work

my wife just called the power company and they said it won't be restored until thursday or friday 🙁

we have a propane fireplace and a coleman camp stove, so we will be ok

I'm in Topeka. This sucks.

I was at the office at 7:30 and the only one until about 9 when the boss showed up. Then he went somewhere and I went home after lunch...the roads aren't too bad, but i figured I'd beat the snow. 😉

If you are losing power and the heat is not coming on, you might want to drain out your water lines so they don't freeze up - provided the temp is below 30 degrees or so.

Best of luck to those of you who are stuck in this "mess" of storms and ice.

I came to work (435 and Metcalf) from the Missouri side. Only saw one wrecked car at Nall. Going home might be fun though...through the Triangle.

Run around as fast as you can, on the road.... See if you can hurt yourself.

Last time I tried that I was in traction for 5 weeks. I was also fined because I removed my clothes first. I also had to sign some papers saying I would never do it again. So someone else will have to try it.

I didn't know there were so many ATOT'ers from KC. I live AND work in OP, so not a problem. Although, if any of you were the slow people in front of me this morning on 119th street when I was trying to make it up a hill, DRIVE FASTER YOU MORONS! IT'S CALLED MOMENTUM, AND I NEED IT TO GET UP THOSE HILLS!!!

i made it home fine, the roads weren't much worse than this morning. did 40-45 mph
power still out in the neighborhood. the gas station up the road (about 1.5 miles) has power, that sucks

you gotta go out in that, i remember when i was a kid we had ice like that and it was a challenge just trying to walk up the driveway.
