Ok, KBR just called me today and offered me a job as cost analyst. I am thinking about it very hard. Now I need to know how much is a fair offer. Mill said in his thread about two months ago that he got 140K and someone said a cook can make 80K.

Is this for 40 hours work weeek or 84 hours? KBR offered me about 70K for 40 hours and 110K for 84 hours. Now keep this in mind, this is just a draft offerer, I haven't negotiate with them yet or this is set in in stone. I need help here ATOT. I want to go to make good money for a year or two. I don't have kids or anything to hold me back. Just want the most money but I don't want to be greedy and ask too much.

Edit: anyone know where I can get more information about Iraq/Middle East salary? I google it and so far, no good information.

Will you be going to Iraq? 70K for 40 hours working for KBR in Iraq isn't worth it, IMHO.

Yes, I will be inside Camp Victory with other contractors.

WTF is KBR?
Kellogg, Brown & Root. It's part of the Halliburton "family of companies." They do most of the logistics work in Iraq (building pipelines, managing oil fields, etc.).

I am thinking around that amount too. I just want to be sure I get a fair amount.

Why? Hate capitalism?

No, just want a fair compensation. It is not like you can go to salary.com and ask for it..LOL.

I believe you also don't pay any taxes on income earned while physically in Iraq, and you will probably be supplied with free meals, lodging and transportation. But the hard part is not being kidnapped and having you head cut off.

40 hours = 70k
84 hours = 110? WEAK

Should be at least 140k....

They are getting a bargain at 84 hours...

Work the 40 hours and have sex with hot girls in uniform when you can.

I think so too, I haven't call them back yet. I know there are risks but no risk no glory. I just want money..LOL.

I figure I work there a year or two then save money and pay cash for a nice house <a nice new 2K square feet house down here is about 200K to 250K>.

Because any hours over 40 hrs will be around $22/hour straight. Like I said before, this is just a rough draft, nothing solid yet.

Maybe not by the time you get back. :)

Still, if I were single, I'd hella go over there for work and you could be damn sure it would be an 84/hr week.

Get back, put down 50% on two houses and rent them both out. Cut back to part time or stay full time and retire at 40. :)

$22/hr is roughly equivalent to 44k/year. As a general rule of thumb for estimating yearly pay from hourly wages, just double the hourly wage.

This only works for 40 hour work weeks.

That, or not go at all, because 70k isn't really a lot, working 84 hours a week sucks, and that whole kidnapping/decapitation/torture stuff sucks.
