KB4048955 won't take

I have been trying for days to get KB4048955 to take

must have tried 10 different ways

does anyone know how to fix this

That one's been superseded by kb4054517, unless I'm mistaken.

However, I've tried both Nov. & Dec. versions and failed on some machines, but succeeded on some others.
If it does install correctly, it will show build 16299.125 after typing in "winver" at a command prompt.
