Is it possible to keep just port 1214 open specifically for Kazaalite using the Linksys BEFSR41 router? According to Linksys "IP filtering: The filtering feature can only block users from all internet access and cannot be used to block specific sites." Kazaalite seems to be using only port 80. I've checked only to connect using port 1214 in the kazaalite program itself, but it doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions? Thanks

go into your router control panel . advanced tab \ forwarding. add the port you want to the "service port range". you can use the same # in both range boxes . then add the IP address for that comp in the same line. click apply. when you get back to the page it might not look like any changes took. refresh the page and check.
good luck

Under Advanced/port forwarding, I have the following headings:

"customize applications", "ext. port" "protocol: TCP" "protocol: UDP" "IP address" "enable"

Do I need to use the customize applications?

To put in my IP address, I can find this through ipconfig/all command prompt in windows, correct? So this would be 192.168.1.1, which just means PC #1....the one am I currently using. Is that right?

I don't understand what "external port" means. It gives me the option of choosing 0-100.

Thanks in advance

don't have "customize applications" on mine - protocol is set to "both" - i.p. address is set to the comp you want to do this to . sounds like you have the i.p. add you want - just add the port # in the service port range per my prvious post and you should be good.
as a side note you can try WINMX instead of kazaalite.i haven't had any problems with it needing special router setups.
good luck
