You do not speak for science. Nor does your response qualify as even attempting to refute my claim.

Yes, we are in agreement that accelerated spread is the primary concern.
You don't speak for science either.

First, children may not get COVID pneumonia at the same rate as adults, but they sure as shit slobber and cough and sneeze like the children they are, and they're always sick with other stuff, so just throwing COVID on top and going, "This is Fine", is a recipe for disaster. Not to mention how they'll be super spreaders. You think kids are going to wear masks properly, cover their coughs, stop wiping snot on everything, etc? Ever met a child?

So go ahead and increase the population infection rate by sending kids into classes to catch it, and then sent home to give it to parents who are now "free" to go to work every day to prop up the Capitalist Death Cult.

Amazing plan.

Second, very little is known about long-term chronic health conditions that could be caused by the virus, even if acute COVID pneumonia never develops. I'll leave you to figure out why that is.

The fact that the Federal Government's plan to deal with the pandemic is to pretend that it doesn't exist while hiding actual numbers is so hilariously evil and criminal that if a writer for Black Mirror had submitted it for production, they'd get fucking fired. But here we are.

The solution is we lock our shit down like we were supposed to for 6-8 weeks with full masks in public and full social distancing, then we'll be ag levels where we can test, isolate, and trace. If we do that then no, the virus will be at manageable levels in sept/oct, and we can largely come.out of lockdown with sensible procedures. The virus does not have to be with us until Dec or next year if we had a) some leadership or b) a country of not morons.

Gonna go ahead and prove b) wrong in 5...4..3..2..

Agreed. We know that will not happen though. I think the Republicans want herd immunity. The faster people get this virus the sooner it will be over. That is their strategy it seems. Problem is, I doubt that tactic will work, and will cause much more harm like killing waaaay more people, and overburdening our health care system with hundreds of thousands of sick patients.

Breitbart is full on stupid.

I often wonder what the commercial-industrial complex behind the GOP has to gain by actively killing hundreds of thousands of members of THEIR voter base.
Then I remember that Russia just wants to destroy us all and nobody yet believes they are running an excellent misinformation campaign all over the world, so it kind of makes sense again.

“To hell with the virus, full speed ahead.” ...

The strategy seems to be, "flood the airways with stupid shit and hope something sticks, or resonates, or doesn’t smell like a decaying husk of a man in a blue rumpled suit and long red tie.

On a most-likely-to-be-rolled-back guess - my bet is on 80%. Of course, the International House of Fascists is controlling the data so who knows.

Cult45 didn’t announce, he had McEnemy take the bullet. Implausible deniability.

Your child can expect a nice note, personally signed, along with waiver of responsibility of any sickness or death of your child to be signed by the parents. Probably an non-disclosure agreement too.

BB backspinning her quote. Here's how they try
The science shows the coronavirus is even less dangerous for school-age kids than the conventional flu. The science shows kids do not transmit the disease at a rate anyone need be alarmed about. Children are not super spreaders. Finally, all over the world, everywhere but America, schools are reopening with no problems.

Schools opening in different parts of the world because they have the virus somewhat contained. We don't.

Reports out of Florida just showed a 31% positive rate for COVID testing for school kids.

They are so full of shit. BB trying to give talking points to feed their brainwashed base. Anyone notice nowhere does Baghdad Barbie use the words "safety" or "safely"?

The solution is to develop Plans for Reopening that take into account what the Science says is required to control the Pandemic and then provide the necessary Funding for it. The Trump Admins simply demanding that Schools open while providing nothing to support such a thing is fucking bullshit.
Republicans spending money on schools/education?!! Lol is all I got :D

Just saw a report on MSNBC that Florida really does not have enough PPE to properly support opening of schools and nobody has any to buy. Did Trump ever turn on the government to manufacture PPE?

Where does FOX find these nutjobs...

"The unions are using the closure of our schools as a smokescreen. Laura, here’s why. Sadly, these unions are actually using our schools to sexualize our children and to train them in anti-American ideology. They do this with a coalition of over 180 organizations, including, sadly, the CDC, Planned Parenthood, and Black Lives Matter incorporated.

It is shocking what they’re teaching our children online through virtual learning. They are teaching our children to sext, to view pornography. They are hooking them up with online sex experts. So, what they are doing is grooming our children for sexual predators to use them. This is child abuse. I have an editorial about this tomorrow online in The Washington Times, people can read and learn all the details.

This is one of the big reasons that unions want to keep our schools closed. Because they can’t sneak these evil lessons past loving teachers who have no idea by keeping them virtual.

I am now permanently stupider for having read that. It just sucked away IQ points.

No idea what she's talking about. Both my kids were remote learning starting April, I sat with them daily for quite a bit of it. Walked them thru projects and scheduled tasks, and not once was this something that came up. Reporting in from libtard MA

I'm not gonna bother looking her up, but I'd bet money she's a Christian conservative and this is just part of the fundie culture war.

That's full on Satanic Panic shit (won't be at all surprised if we get a sequel). Plus, uh, so they think that's happening and they want to force kids back to school?

It's time, in my opinion, for the nut jobs to face jail time just as it is illegal to shout fire in a cinema, these assholes are stoking mass psychosis in the population. ll this is done to create a perpetual state of panic among a segment of the people whose fear turns to hatred and intimidation of those who oppose those who manipulate them. To create a mass of insane people is evil and is done only by those who need power to avoid the feelings that might well up in them if they can't maintain a sense of control. Fear is the reason killer and it is reason control freaks fear. Reason leads to self introspection.

In the case of 'we can't let science stand in the way of opening our schools, the idiot that uttered those words, Baghdad Barbie, as mentioned above, I love that, she said what is the actual truth accidentally, but because she is brain dead thinks science is actually on her side. That is where the lies lie.

School aged kids are the ones I would expect to not face danger from COVID.
So where are they going to live? You can't let these little petri dishes back into your home to infect those that do face danger from COVID.

Perhaps parents need to setup separate living quarters in the garage or basement where kids can go when they come home from school. That's how many health care workers are protecting their family by living in a separate part of the house, including my neighbor who is an ER doc.

Oh, and it has put kids in the hospital, and a some have died.

Meh, people like

@imported_tajmahal
@blackangst1 (claimed not to be a Trumpanzee)
@pcgeek11

are fine with it
Why might some be fine with it? Conservatives fear the cure may be worse than the disease. But because they are more likely to rationalize away facts that contradict their assessment of what is good for them personally, they will not have as rational an assessment of what is really the worst objectively. They will have fear interfering with their judgment and as such should generally be ignored. We are not in the paleolithic where fear was more of a survival methodology than reason. Conservative thinking used to be better at keeping us alive but is ineffectual in dealing with objective data and assessing risk objectively.

This is 100% about keeping parents working. This admin and the DOE lackey Devos couldn't care less about public schools. Private christians schools are their priority. This is simply about the economy. That's it.

The fallout in case and death increases are a non issue for Trump's admin.

My sister teaches third grade and she's telling me the distance learning they've been doing has serious educational drawbacks over having students physically in class.

I think what they're going to do is half the students come to class every day while the other half tune in to the lesson online. Students are spaced out in seats and everyone must wear a mask at all times. Kids are carefully monitored during recesses to maintain social distancing. Then the next day, the other half comes in. Sounds reasonable to me.

Need I say more? How many of you have school aged kids? From whom are you getting your COVID-19 advice Trump and the Republicans or Dr. Fauci?? Do you trust the lives of your kids to Trump?

No, you dont need to say more. Its clearly obvious to anyone that you are incapable of reading past the headline that you fell for. Even Jake Tapper from CNN corrected his own CNN colleagues. The quote was taken out of context, and not the full quote. This is a pattern for you, so its not a new thing. At least you are consistent.

Folks read the ENTIRE McEnany comment about "the science should not stand in the way" of opening schools. She's arguing that the science is on the side of those who want to open them, she cites a JAMA study. I'm not taking a position on the matter but be fair.
-Jake Tapper

Even Acosta corrected his misleading tweet, because it is clear to see what she is talking about. I know its too much to ask for most people to actually read past a headline, but you should try it sometime.

Where is Twitter and others when they claim to be censoring false tweets like this? Oh yeah, doesnt work like that.

*cliffs because some people still wont read, and just attack
She is saying that science is on the side of opening schools, and it is. She backs up her comment with a scientific source. The OP and posters afterwards claim that she is saying "forget science that shows kids will be in danger and open schools anyways". When she is saying the exact opposite.

Oh look, a person who obviously knows shit about science uncritically swallows propaganda. What a surprise. I can always count on an Ackmed post to take literally the most clueless and uninformed stance imaginable.

I'm just wondering why Trump thought having a prettier face spreading his blatant lies was so much believable than what Sarah Sanders could do in front of a mic or maybe I'm seriously overestimating the IQ of his listeners.

But. That's like. Hard. Or something.

I agree though. Hard lockdown. Every adult gets $2,000 a month for the the 2 months it takes to get through it. Federal ban on evictions during that time. Easily accessible federal testing stations at no cost in every state. End they mushy CDC "guidelines" and issue a hard stop on stuff that we know is bad. Church gatherings, bars, casinos, conventions, parties, ect. If it's more than 5-10 people. Banned. At least until we have a vaccine and it's produced and applied to a large enough population to be effective.

You are a moron. Again make the colossal mistake (intentional ignorance) Trump is telling you truth and you parrot like a good little boy.

Tha JAMA study which by the way was published back in April only concluded children are more susceptible to influenza vs COVID. They made no conclusions when it comes to school re openings. In fact they said this
In communities with widespread transmission, community mitigation interventions, such as school closures, cancellation of mass gatherings, and closure of public places are appropriate.10

The only person that made the leap the JAMA study backed schools reopening was Baghdad Barbie.
Position of the JAMA study
Clinicians need to work with school and community leaders to implement interventions that slow disease spread and prevent severe illness and death, while ensuring that unintended consequences of these interventions on children are minimized.

Position of Trump. "Just get those schools reopened." No mention at all of "safety" or "safely"
