Just remember to let go of the pole when something starts dragging you down.

That thing is cool. I wonder what happens with the drive fins as you reach the shore, what keeps them from getting fouled/breaking?

I've been kayak fishing for about a year. Your weight and the type of water you will be paddling in are important factors in determining what kayak will work best for you.

Kayaks have very little resale value, search craigslist.

My brother-in-law swears by his kayak when fishing for redfish in the bay and tidal lagoons. It's nice because you can almost sneak up on the fish, it's almost like hunting.

I've been kayak fishing for a few years. I've never tried the sit-on kayaks, preferring and owning several sit-in kayaks. My wife picked up a Perception America kayak, (15.5 feet?) for about $550. It works great for fishing. I prefer hers for fishing for 1 particular reason: the length. I can't fit fishing poles into mine quite as easily. I've never bothered outfitting mine with any special equipment to make it easier. i.e. rod holders or anything.

Oh, and in my opinion, kayaks hold their value fairly well if you take care of them; at least in my area. Of course, it's easy to pay too much in the first place, in which case they of course don't hold their resale value.

Also, yes, you can certainly "sneak up" on fish - a lot of fish are spooked more easily by larger boats.

check out gon's forums, there are a few there that do the kayak fishing here in GA. I know there are other sites dedicated just to the sport.

I've always been Fond of Necky Kayaks, but then again my brother works for Johnson outdoors so I may be biased a bit.
