I think it's cool how their engines are like, as powerful as a Honda Civic's, but they weigh 500 lbs not 2500....fast...drool.

Guy here at work has a Honda CBR929RR. 150 HP, 403 lbs fully loaded with a full tank of gas. It's got more HP than many cars, & weighs 20% of what they do. Imagine that kind of acceleration.

:D

I see Suzuki's zip around the course all day on speedvision, and hear nothing but good things about them.

I wish I had a crotch rocket. I'd get all the girls...

Assuming you don't flip it, 0-60 in 4 or 5 seconds. That wouldn't be to unreasonable would it?

I want one as well. :p

<EDIT>
okay, so I was way off
</EDIT>

But I'm not sure. I'll have to stop in a see just how much they are. I've got a bike shop ten minutes or so from my house. They've got Harley's too, but those are too spendy and too weighty.

Car and Driver...being novices to bike riding, like the Suzuki GSX-750

I think that's what it is...maybe it's GSXR-750. I forget...it's the one with the yellow and carbon fiber trim.

Have fun if you get a new bike. I have a 2000 Buell Cyclone M2, which I just love. http://www.buell.com/products_main.asp

Buell is the only American made sportbike. They use a very modified Harley sportster engine that puts out 91hp (low compared to the Japanese bikes) and 85 ft. lbs. of torque (which is higher than almost all of the stock Japanese bikes). They are really a torque monster, which makes them pull hard. Soon I'll be putting on a new exhaust, new intake, and new carb jets, which should put my hp close to 110 and my torque to around 103(!!!!).

They might not be for everyone, because they are a different type of experience from riding a high-reving Japanese bike. I just love hearing the roar of a Harley V-Twin while I'm riding.

Just when I decide on which bike to buy (the 6R or the 9R), someone HAS to come along with a better suggestion, better looking bike, better performance, better overall specs --JERK!

Just kidding. But, seriously, I'm reconsidering the 9R (my final choice) for that RC51.

Thanks for the info, loogie! Looks like $7K more for 999cc's isn't all that bad... :)
it probably looks better s c r e e m i n g down the road... :eek:

I've been looking at Honda Shadows, those are some sweet bikes.

I've always wanted to know, what is it that attracts people to crotch rockets? I tend to think they look tacky. Unless you're on a track, they just seem silly, IMHO.

Well, I have already been in an accident involving the "cruiser" types, and don't think i will ever want to get back on one. However, the crotch rockets look like different creatures to me, and are much much cheaper (well, can be).....they may be tacky, but its fun to race cars with them :)

Bober,
I look at it like this........

In 4 wheeled vehicles, the ultimate racing machines are F1 cars.
To own one would cost you millions.

In 2 wheeled vehicles; the ultimate racing machines are Superbikes, such as the Honda RC-51.
To own one would cost you $10,000 to $60,000.

I will never own anything near the ultimate in 4 wheeled machines, but I currently have close to the ultimate in Superbikes with my GSXR750.

Then again, you could get a Harley, or other cruiser type bike, and have the comparable to a Lexus, or Cadillac.;)

A word on sportbikes -- I've owned three.

1995 CBR 600 F3 Stolen
1997 GSX-R 600 Stolen
1999 TL1000R Stolen

Alarms, chains...a joke. If it's not in a garage, out of site...count the days.
