kaveri bf4 good performance?

I don't feel that is entirely accurate, my hd6850 ran fine under ubuntu 12.04, and catalyst for hd6000 parts work fine.

Go try it with a 7xxx series card, Steam offers many Linux titles now.

Tried several personally, experience was less than acceptable.

It works fine, until I actually try to use it to game... Which is a mix between decent fps with stutter and abysmal fps, of course also with stutter.

Nobody will spend $300 for the APU + $200 for a motherboard + $150 for Quad 2400MHz memory because it is the fastest APU in the planet. Nobody buys Core i3 for its HD4600 graphics because Iris Pro is the Fastest APU. Mainstream market doesnt even know what Iris Pro is.
Even if AMD would release a 300W APU monster, it would not effect mainstream APU sales.
From my point of view, what AMD lucks is production Volume. They have released Jaguar in June and still you can't find a single Desktop/Laptop Jaguar product in retail. They already have excellent products but you cannot find any of them to buy.
And even if you find one like the ECS KBN-I/5200 mini-itx board, it cost more than a cheap FM2+ motherboard + Trinity/Richland APU. Those boards should be bellow the $99.00 mark and flood the market. But instead they are hard to find and very expensive because they are not consumer products but Embedded.

I don't think quad channel, 768 SP Kaveri would be $300. $200 at most I think, and a quad channel mobo for it would perhaps be $100 as long as it isn't equipped with too many frivolous components. Having quad channel would mean not having to buy expensive 2400 MHz memory to get decent bandwidth. DDR3-1866 or 2133 would be sufficient getting you to 60 or more GB/s. Purchasing a couple of 2 x 2 GB 1866 kits is about $100.

What AMD would have to do is convince manufacturers to support Super Kaveri with mobos that are made for dual channel Kaveri. Super Kaveri could theoretically work on dual channel mobos with two memory channels disabled (which is against the point of having the APU).

Even with Super Kaveri just a dream, I'm still on board with the idea of it being used as a Steam Box APU. It's a good idea and with the "promise" of perhaps being in millions of Steam Box units, it would be good for AMD as well as gamers who want a decent gaming PC for cheap. Adapting either console APU for a more PC like ecosystem, even a semi controlled Steam Box would not bode well considering their very slow CPU clock speeds, so I would advise against it to be honest.
