A possible explanation of the alleged Ford-Kavanaugh incident. Perhaps he is guilty but honestly does not remember.
blackouts are periods of amnesia people experience while intoxicated, during which they are still capable of participating in conversations or behaviors but might not remember.

Alcohol can lead to memory impairment by decreasing the electrical activity of the neurons in your hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for the formation of short-term memories.

"Alcohol can impair all aspects of memory," she said. "But most critically it impairs the transfer of information from short-term memory -- what are we talking about now -- to long-term memory, what did I say to him or her yesterday?"

The researchers found that, after a delay, intoxicated witnesses provided less accurate information than sober witnesses, but were best when recalling information immediately compared to one week later.
In other words, the data suggest that alcohol's impact may be strongest under conditions when memory is already weaker, because of the time delay.

Yep, perfectly conscious, driving people home in your car, yet the only reason why you know that is because your car is parked out front, and you called a couple people to ask if you did anything stupid. Nope, never experienced that. (Extremely irresponsible, but not atypical drunken behavior and effects). Stupid personal experience.

Earlier posted, posting it again.
https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_loftus_the_fiction_of_memory

"More precisely, she studies false memories, when people either remember things that didn't happen or remember them differently from the way they really were. It's more common than you might think, and Loftus shares some startling stories and statistics -- and raises some important ethical questions."

Not to mention it is an accepted theory that memories can change dramatically over time.

And how much did Ford drink?

Here's more science of memories drastically changing over time. I know you love science-

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/...emories-are-remembered-they-can-be-rewritten/

http://www.human-memory.net/processes_recall.html

https://www.healthguidance.org/entry/17590/1/how-your-memory-changes-every-time-you-access-it.html

"“A memory is not simply an image produced by time traveling back to the original event—it can be an image that is somewhat distorted because of the prior times you remembered it. Your memory of an event can grow less precise even to the point of being totally false with each retrieval.”

This is stupid .. so anything I remember from my teens is not just wrong, it never happened some other life happened that I have no chance of recollecting ... cause memory change over time... and you have the science to back it up .... OK!
Are you guys trying to reenact that courtroom scene from Idiocracy?

Could be. I wonder if Ford was drinking. I don’t think she has said anything about it or anyone has asked. According to Ford, Kavanaugh and his friend were pretty drunk. I wonder if the other kids were drinking also. Was it a small drinking party? I would expect that would be a question that someone would ask during the investigation.

Hey... come on.....
Drunk or nay, RAPE is not a typical assault reaction in any case.
Yeah, maybe wearing a funny hat or balancing a bottle of beer on your head, but RAPE? REALLY?
Being drunk explains away this action? REALLY?

Who here has been drunk in their life and ATTEMPTED RAPE was the result?
Franking... I DON'T THINK SO.
If drinking leads one to RAPE then you really have a BIG problem far beyond the drinking.
AND... sitting on the US Supreme Court should NOT be an option in any case.
But in this Trump world we now live in, and the world of Mitch McConnell and old fart Chuck Grassley, sure.... go ahead and put the rapist on the high court.
I mean, they are all such creeps and lowlifes in congress, to whom would it even matter??

Bruh drinking leads to all sorts sexual misconduct that can and too frequently does involve rape. It lowers inhebriations, drives one on impulse, etc. Are you saying that’s not the case?

Actually I would say drinking increases inebriations not lowers them. ;)

Again, I know dickall about Kavanaughs politics so I don't really have a dog in this hunt.

With that said, if he got drunk and attempted to rape a girl as a teenager you would assume that he'd have a history of being some kind of sexual predator in the next 35 or so years. It's not like it was even a crime of opportunity, we are talking forcible rape here. I honestly haven't read anything that wasn't posted in one of the threads here but all of the women from that time and onward thought he was a stand-up guy who was respectful towards women. Have any other women come forward to say that he was any sort of a predator towards them?

Umm, interesting, seems possible that Ford's name may have been known to conservative pundits before she outed herself...could it be conservatives leaked her name to the press?? How??? Could it be... Kavanaugh knew of her despite denying so??

Apparently that Whelan guy was looking her up on LinkedIn BEFORE she published her letter...

Attempted rape? How did we go from touching her clothes to raping her?

She said he was out of his mind drunk. I read that’s all those kids did at the time was drink and go to parties. So was she drunk too?

Clearly you did not read her letter to Feinstein. It was way more then a touch.

Are you trying to examine evidence you just taking Hannity talking points?

I don’t get why she said she been trying to recover from the event since it happened decades agoyet wrote a letter that the whole world would make her relive it.
You're inability to understand this is what makes you a typical US conservative. Congrats on that.
