Like I said, GOP could've milked this talking point for all it's worth IF they delayed for 2 weeks and asked FBI to investigate. But they didn't, and to be honest it falls a little flat when you consider what's happened to her since coming out publicly.
And to him and his family and to Senator Collins and to numerous other people by crazies and criminals. Why no arrests of the people threatening Senators and citizens weeks ago?

Because the threats are fake or made up, idiot. Death threats overwhelmingly come from the right.

You bet your ass Capitol Police IS investigating threats to Congress. They don't take that shit lightly after Scalise. I'm not sure what protection is afforded SCOTUS nominees, but in this polarized climate Congress should author a bill providing for protection if none isn't provided already.

Starting to see how this might go. Popular GOP gov of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker, just made the following statement.

"The accusations brought against Judge Kavanaugh are sickening and deserve an independent investigation," Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker tweeted. "There should be no vote in the Senate."

By tomorrow, Donald will have forced Kavanaugh to remove himself from consideration. Then Don will tweet, either in the same tweet or a few tweets within an hour, how "Kavanaugh is weak and should have never backed out against the evil democrats, and that of course Kavanaugh is a great man unfairly treated by the evil democrats who don't want the country to be great again. Trump never really liked Kavanaugh anyway, there are lots of people, a couple, really, that will be just as great. It was really like flipping a coin, anyway, and so on to the next one. He was smart, you see, to use Kavanaugh as bait to see what the Dems would bring."

Almost verbatim, this will be Trump's response.

The apparent main line of attack against Ford now seems to be skepticism of her fear of flying. So they're (Republcians) up shit creek basically.

But they're not smart, or at least they are deferring to Trump to make a decision which is the stupidest thing they can do.

If I look at this for the standpoint that Brett Kavanaugh is 100% innocent of all allegations, GOP totally screwed the pooch with this hearing. They handled this poorly and it shows. They should've taken more time to review/investigate, come up with a serious defense, and just blamed Democrats for the delay heading into the midterms. I don't understand why they rushed this...pressure from the President?

I think you are confused simply because you seem to be grasping at some phantom idea that the GOP has been capable of displaying and enacting any form of actual leadership over the last several decades. It is only expected that they present themselves as the craven, incompetent assholes that everyone knows them to be, when forced to do so.

So are there basically three options here?

1) Kavanaugh backs out on his own.
2) Trump yanks the nomination
3) They take it to vote and basically sign their resignation slips the next election

Is there a 4th? Can the committee remove him from consideration?

Why the hell you people don't put obvious trolls on ignore I don't know. Actually I do, makes for a good rage dump. Also makes for weird reading on some of these threads, you all sound like the guy I see on the corner yelling at the sky :D

Yeah, can't argue with that. I feel like I knew how today was going to go, but am more irritable than I thought I'd be. I just end up trolling myself. :(

I keep ttrying to think about this from the context "WHAT IF Kavanaugh is 100% innocent?"

Two things I think he'll do:

1. Request more time from the majority to mount a defense. An innocent man should be horrified at how this morning went.

2. If he should lose this nomination, I'd expect him to file a civil defamation suit against Ford. I'm pretty sure JCN and other groups will fully fund his legal costs. He should get full due process and discovery to find out where this allegation came from and whether there was a sophisticated smear campaign run against him.

That's IF he's innocent...let's see what actually happens.

No, it makes sense. If you are afraid of flying and fly anyway well then, you could dislike being sexually assaulted but still be sexually assaulted and it would okay. It isn't the perp's fault that you got sexually assaulted when you don't like being sexually assaulted therefore let's confirm Kavanaugh.

Tell it to Uncle Joe Biden, he said it.

I like how you quoted him to try and rationalize why the FBI should not be involved, when his quote explicitly states how the FBI is the perfect angle for doing exactly what you claim to want: find the facts. That's all you've requested.

But you don't really want that. We all know that all you need is to sit back and nurse your broken old foot by snorted crushed oxy that has been cut with the dust of pulverized baby bones, you sick, twisted, sub-human animal.

I am for real sure to hear this from a few people who also told me what, allegedly, happened to her wasn't wrong after, of course, calling her an outright liar.

I find a huge measure of Justice in all of what’s going on.
I heard someone wanted to read the questions Kavanaugh suggested to grill Bill Clinton with but the questions could not be aired on broadcast TV. I simply love how Kavanaugh is getting the same treatment.

Whomever prepped the questions for Ford from the R side needs to be extra fired by end of day. They failed spectacularly.

A friend of mine is a white-knuckle flyer, she still flys quite a bit because she wants to travel, but she hates flying.

Can someone point on a calendar in the last 18 months exactly when Lindsay Graham became the slimy piece of shit he is today? Man how far he has fallen.

Should the President withdraw the nomination before Kavanaugh speaks, and spare him the questioning? I don't know how much sympathy he can gather under fire from "hysterical liberals" at this point...

My girlfriend is the same way. She grips my hand tightly during takeoff and landing, yet we've flown twice this year for vacation. Not sure where republicans thought they were going with that.
