I accidentally checked the option to remove the toolbars. Google searching for this app is useless, because I just get stuff on kate middleton.

How do I get all that stuff back? I can't do anything. Also I find the version in Linux Mint is kinda flacky, it seems to be missing options. I can't find the option to display full path in title bar, and some of the menus are actually blank.

Edit: Actually nevermind, think I'm going to switch to Sublime editor, it seems better anyway. Kate is just too screwed up in this distro. There's actually a bunch of workarounds you have to do just to make it work at all and even then lot of stuff is missing like icons.

If you run into any issues with Sublime I would suggest Abiword, It is word processor but is very light weight and works great with Bodhi (also an Ubuntu 14.04 variant)thanks to lxskllr for the suggestion

Abiword is a word processor not a text editor.

Ended up going with Pluma which I actually found by error, was already on my system. Sublime had an issue where if I open a text file and Sublime is already open, it would cause the GUI to choke up and act like it's trying to open a program, when in reality the file had already opened in sublime. Cursor would be in the "waiting" mode and the taskbar would have "opening..." and it would just sit like that forever. Not exactly a sublime issue because I noticed that issue with a few other editors too. With Pluma that issue does not exist though so ended up going with it.

Only thing is I'm going to miss the F3 searching, where I can just double click a keyword and hit F3 to do a search real fast. Sublime is also non-free, I did not realize that. It said "unregistered" so I'm guessing at some point it would start to nag me. Kate was still the best editor, it's just that in Mint it's super flaky for some reason. It's always had an issue where it does not perform well on network drives as well because it writes to a file for each key stroke. (verified that with a packet sniffer)
