Kaspersky or another antivirus + Kaspersky SOS

I am getting ready to build a computer and am planning to o 64-bit vista ultimate. I was thinking about using Kaspersky as my antivirus program, but saw that they also have a free antivirus program (Kaspersky SOS) that can be used with other antivirus programs (NOD, Norton, etc.) because it does not offer real time protection.

Any suggestions as to which way would be best?

If the goal is to increase security beyond the level that a single antivirus product can provide, then you might want to look at these suggestions before going to the complication of a real-time AV plus a manual-scan AV.
