Purchased 2011 to replace 2010 which about to expired. Hate going thru the 2 rebate hoops procedure (sending 'copy of installation disk) and on verge of just returning to Fry's.

Anyone care to talk me out of being a lazy ass and to just send in the rebates? Or recommend a replacement software suite? Would (purchased version) malwarebytes be fine?

Thanks

Thanks. Hadn't checked buy.com since they collect tax. Amazon is a little more. Really hate the rebate route and this is two forms for $60 total. Going back to Fry's to see if they'll refund the amount for a return. Otherwise I'll take their $10 price match drop (and $50 rebates) which occured after I purchased.

--- aha moment

just remembered as per their ad that Fry's now matches internet prices

Curses! Darn Fry's balked at price matching Buy.com with the lame excuse that 'their price' is cheaper after rebate. (Even suggested they cut out the UPC code so I couldn't mail in rebate.) Guess they really didn't want to lose money on the sale and was looking for any excuse not to honor their price match ad. Wanted a refund on the $60 so I could just buy from buy.com but I had already opened the box. Arrgh. Oh well. Gonna send in the rebates and wait a couple of months hoping there's no snafu.

KIS is a suite which offers more protection than Avast.

KIS 2011 at Fry's was a 'free' after rebate offer. I still pay tax on the original $60 and wait and pray the rebates come in. So 'free' is hard price-wise.

I personally will never use Kaspersky.

What all do you need in the suite?? MSE supersedes Windows Defender and, as such, takes care of Viruses and Malware.

NOD32 is a great piece of software as well (Though it isn't free)

I bought a 3 user license code (no media) via flEbay for $19. I really like Kaspersky and don't mind paying for it. They have had some issues (it had issues with Thunderbird 3 when that was first released) but every A/V vendor had similar issues ... you just learn to deal with it, and this is where my WHS comes in handy - no more data loss.
