Kaspersky anti virus

Having used McAfee for years, I thought I'd give Kaspersky Anti Virus a try.
The Kaspersky free online scan reported finding 1 virus and 23 infected items on my computer. The free scan only reports finding it, but has no tool to remove infections it finds.
(I had just previously run McAfee which found nothing).

So I uninstalled McAfee and installed a free trial of Kaspersky. After updating Kaspersky, I ran it and it found nothing. This was about an hour after the Kaspersky online scan reported an infection.

Suspicion: I can't help wondering if the Kaspersky online scan reports bogus findings to stampede you into buying.

In settings, there is an option for virus search engine database. There is regular and extended. I believe online scanner uses extended, and Kaspersky uses regular one by default.

Hope it helps.

I don't think Kaspersky does any kind of bogus stuff. I've used their anti-virus package ever since I had a internet connection at home and never spotted it doing any "suspicious" behaviour.

I like Kaspersky AV too, except the fact that they have not yet responded to my e-mail about lost key, and it's been almost a month.
