Kaspersky 6.0 - Anyone Using It?

I'm thinking of switching over to kapersky from NOD32...NOT b/c ANYTHING is wrong with NOD32. In fact, I couldn't really be any happier w/NOD, but I love change and I'd like to see what all the hoopla is about over kapersky.

I saw that their new 6.0 version was finally released, but I've seen no reviews or comments on it. Anyone using it? How is it?

Yes its awesome. NOD32 is very good too though. I had Trend PCCILLIN 2005 which i think sucked thought not as bad as norton or CA. When uninstalled trend and installed kaspersky it found about 11 trojans that apparently trend coudln't find. When trend would find a trojan it wouldn't give you the option to delete/quart it it would not notify you it found one which really sucks. Kaspersky gives you the option to delete which is what it should do. Updates on definitions come in very often. Its a toss up between Kaspersky and Nod32 though. I think both of them are the best AV products out there. Kaspersky is a lot easier to use than NOD32 though (if that matters to you and your not a techie). I have kaspersky installed on my workstation and nod32 installed on my server. I really like both so its hard to say between the two. I would definitly choose both over any other AV product though.

uhhh... resource hog how... kaspersky is one of the lowest n terms of resource usage to performance ratio for av progs.

your statement is like an oxymoron plus. 😕

You are crazy if you think symantec uses less resources than kav. Kav6 is excellent all around with its new features, scan speed and LOW resources and if you check any comparisons kav is #1 in detection and updates.

Kav internet security 6 is using 5900k on my PC real low 😉,thing with KAV is it starts high(18000K or so) on bootup but drops right down after awhile.

An antivirus program is pointless if ONE VIRUS gets through... Norton may seem faster than kaspersky but if a virus gets through, you'd be better off with no virus protection at all. kaspersky does indeed use less resources ram wise but it seems to slow down file copying significantly.

Another vote for Kaspersky 6 here -- it's very light on resources. I was using EZ AntiVirus before and liked it because it was also light on resources but it doesn't protect you from nearly as much as KIS does.

so, you guys are using the release version, .299, or what? im on .314, and not many problems. its a lot better than it was when i first started testing at .260 or so. the scan on .314 is much faster than .299, but it may be slower in the next version, you never know.

those of u using kaspersky 6.0, what firewall are u using with it? or are u using the security suite?

norton internet security seems to be really slowing down my machine.

I'm using Kaspersky 6 also.

Do you guys use the Proactive Defense settings? I turned my off because they were annoying.

Scan may just be faster with upgraded versions if you kept the iChecker and iSwift databases. I'm not using PD. Not sure how useful Web is to me either. I have used Kasperky for a long time and have mostly just manually scanned everything I download. Version 6 seems to have little penalty to enabling File/Mail/Web. Using ye olde Kerio 2.1.5 too. KIS is intriguing but I don't have any reason to change the firewall at this point.
