Kasp 6.0 that good?

A friend of mine just phoned me on how good his new Kasp 6.0 was. I think he used to be on 5.0 and hated it. Now he's upgraded to 6.0 he said it's just a killer app. I wonder if that is true or indeed Kasp has gotten to be that good. I'm using NOD32 personally since Kasp 5.0 has NTFS streams etc problems I don't want. He even said the UI is like awesome now. Anyone out there actually using 6.0 and can you write something about your exp here?

the streams have been since removed after all the user complaints, even though it never really caused any harm. there was an option to disable it in 5 anyways while installing. 6.0 really works great, has none of the stream crap. imo kaspersky is one of the few av worth purchasing in the midst of great free alternatives such at antivir.

Currently use 6.0, upgraded from 5.0.

UI is not that much different, it wasnt a total overhaul or anything.

Honestly seems similar to 5.0 to me on the outside, not to sure whats going on in the inside though 🙂

Never had a problem with Kaspersky since using it over a year ago with detection or anything, I think it's currently the best out there.

how much resource does Kasp 6.0 use? and anyone here using there security suite? that any good? I'm using zone alarm right now thinking if Kasp is so good might consider their suite.

the streams are apparently worthless anyways because it still takes the same amount of time to scan files with and without that feature. I wouldn't mind the feature if it friggen at least improve scan times by skipping files with same file/data structure etc. altogether.

I don't have it loaded atm, because my laptop is Vista... but when i did have it, i believe it actually used LESS resources than 5. I hope somebody can confirm whether this is true or not.

But yeah, it's pretty damn awesome. There's a 1 month free trial, so give it a shot. I found it to be the best thing i tried (but i've been using Kaspersky for years).

Not sure what sort of resource footprint 5 had, but checking my task manager shows KAV6 currently using less than 3K right now. I'm very impressed with KAV, especially coming from the resource hog that is NAV.

Ya I used to be an avid NAV fan, but they just made it into such a bloatware, it probbaly eats up 20-30% of your CPU cycle and like 150MB of RAM just chucking along in the background. It's just a badly written piece of ...

I have just upgraded to Ver 6.0 and it is far better than ver 5. With 5 it took ages for my computer to become useable from boot up. Now with 6 it boots to the desktop quicker and scans are quicker too. I will certanly be renewing my subscription when its up for renewal.

Does anyone know how long the beta is good for?

I think untill the end of this month.

I am using Internet Security 6 and it runs much lighter than the KAV 5 releases. The application integrity module has some high cpu issues so I just leave it off. Also the http script guard will slow down your surfing very slightly. I run everything on the hostile settings and I like the ability to delete the spam mail right from the mail server.

I've got the trial version of KAV6 installed on one of my systems, and it was interesting to see the Proactive Defense module jump up and give me a Block/Allow prompt when I tried to launch gpedit.msc using a runas command prompt.

Sounds good I think I'll trial their KAV/KIS 6 for a month. But I did hear people complaint about their KIS/KAV slow down broswewr quite a bit. Anyone here got such a problem?

Nope, no problem here. And what do you mean slow down the browser? You mean in opening the browser takes longer? or in actual browsing? In any case, neither of which was a problem for me.

If you do then it only takes 4 clicks to disable it.
