The 2004 GOP electoral strategy relied in large part on energizing evangelicals through fearmongering based on the possibility of gay marriage becoming legal, but the cause was a just one, right? Protecting and defending that most sacred of institutions, the foundation and bedrock of all society, the prize and goal of many a reality tv show, marriage.

Glenn Greenwald lets it fly:

I can only assume Rove's wife just had occular surgery and now for the first time has vision.

Yeah yeah yeah, "another liberal taking joy in misfortune blah blah blah". I have no sympathy for hypocrites and political opportunists.

Till death do us part, sworn before god.

A remorseful Lee Atwater apologized on his deathbed for his lies, hate and division --- any bets on 'Turd Blossom' ??

Christian libertarian here. I wish the churches preached that anyone who's divorced for any reason other than abuse doesn't have the right to vote against gay marriage.

This does not alter my opinion of Karl Rove in any way. Nor does it surprise me.

Sometimes, if you don't have anyone good to say about someone, say as little as possible.

did I mention this is his second sacred divorce? That's twice over he said till death do us part.

Looney Theory: he did die both times but Cheney Lord of Darkness resurrected his corpse. It would explain his waxy pallor.

Jonks, could you show us, on the doll, where the evil Karl Rove touched you?

You guys are unbelievably obsessed with partisan lunacy

No, I'm obsessed with the principles of justice, fairness, and gays are suffering from great discrimination; and Rove has played a very leading role to hurt gays for his own gain, so his hypocrisy is notable.

It's not as if his position would be any less evil if he weren't a hypocrite. It's just one more thing wrong with him. The point is that his hypocrisy weakens the already fallacious case to contiunue gay discrimination.

The only thing 'partisan' is your wanting to hide the hypocrisy by calling it 'partisan'.

I can show you a list of a thousand places in the US he had a bad effect on. Your sarcasm doesn't hold up; it merely exposes you as an apologist for all his bad behavior.

Rove is a POS. Now having said that, both the left and the right will rip up the Constitution when it suits them.

Only a fool would trust any of them.

This thread is about Karl Rove getting a divorce. This is an accepted norm in our society.

I wasn't the one trying to make more out of it than it is...

It's good to know that Karl Rove, paragon of Republican virtue, is doing his part to uphold the sanctity of marriage.

Seriously?

I guess I'm "obsessed" with the notion that it's okay for someone to have a differing opinion than myself, something which you repeatedly and forcibly speak out against. Your opinion is the only thing that matters in your world, you have no interest in even allowing someone else a voice in a discussion.

It's good that you are not king, and have no authority over others :)

Karl Rove in a patriot and and American hero.

I am disappointed that this warrior for the truth has suffered this loss.

The hypocrisy of liberals is duly noted. Liberals have taught us, through the Clinton/Monica episode, that personal integrity in marriage is none of the public business.

It seems that many liberals have not remembered this lesson.

Seriously ...... I mean who really cares that Rove got a divorce. Why is this even noteworthy? People get divorced every day ...... thousands of them and I'm sure many of them are Democrats who are just as hypocritical as Rove.
Move along ...... nothing to see here.

Bravo. A little over the top for a troll account with 11 posts, but you can go far.

Obviously, only conservatives ever campaign on certain ideas and principles and turn out to be hypocrites later.
