It is, but what's even hotter is a chick who can uses power tools:

DRHA400_Nicole-Curtis-9750-2_crop_h_al.jpg

Nicole Curtis of Rehab Addict on HGTV.

The pitch of her voice plus that accent.... :cringe: My wife watches her and I can hear her annoying voice 3 rooms away. She's probably a bit too skinny too, but her voice makes my skin crawl.

back on topic - the show has been declining in quality for years, but this seemed a bit drastic. Also, it seems like every season had fewer and fewer episodes? Surprised they didn't try to drag out a multi episode goodbye run as a ratings grab. Makes me think it might have been about them not wanting to take pay cuts to stay on the air.

I have to agree with the consensus here. The show is still mildly entertaining, but seeing the same thing explained 10 different ways gets old. Some of the experiments are great, but some are stupidly predictable. The worst part is the fact that they jump around between two or more experiments before finishing one, just to keep you watching.

Spend a few seconds explaining where the myth came from, show me how the experiment is set up, tell me what you think the results are going to be, perform the test, and analyze the results (if needed), then move on to the next experiment. I don't want to watch 5-10 minute segments about how cool the demo site you're standing at is, or how many explosions you've done in the past that are like this one.

I wish they would do weapon tests like the series Deadliest Warrior. Their tests were interesting, but I'd love to see them set up in a better scientific environment, rather than having some random guy swing whatever weapon of the moment at a fake torso and hope he hits it as squarely as the last weapon. Take out the stupid ninja vs. pirate junk from the end of the show and it would be gold.

I still enjoy the show, and it REALLY sucks that those three are no longer a part of it.

They were part of the most EPIC episode ever, imo, MEAT MAN!

Doesn't matter. She is one of the dumbest people on TV and her voice makes me want to club a baby seal.

I mean, what are we counting as "on TV" here? Simply being a part of a television program? Hosting it?

If we are talking about just being on TV for people to see you on the regular, I present to you: Jenny Dell, reporter for NESN.

The show jumped the shark when they started testing zombie and star wars myths. They have definately run out of legitimate myths.

Eh, I don't fault them for that stuff since the show had always pandered to pop culture stuff and lighter myths the entire time.

I get they probably set out to be a bridge to draw people that normally wouldn't be interested in science (and I'd say they might've done an ok job of getting more science fact into people's heads about various things), but I think they more attracted the people that don't understand or care about the how and why, they just want the results (which often were explosions). In other words the people that these channels have changed their programming to target (and hence why they've gone to crap).

I do think they are capable of testing this stuff more thoroughly but didn't/don't because of time, budget, and their focus was trying to make the show entertaining. If you watch some of Adam's other stuff for instance, its clear he takes a very different approach in his personal projects. I would've liked to see more of that in the show, but I don't think the show would have been as successful.

I'd say it could be interesting to see how the show changes, but considering the direction Discovery has been going in, I can't say I'm hopeful about how it might turn out.

Tested is a great web show and podcast. Definitely a very different side of Adam on there.

I haven't even watched it in years myself, I actually enjoyed those three more than the others.

I'd say the whole thing is just toast anyway.

I agree that it's probably a cost cutting measure. It's a shame though since the three of them were a great team. Jaime and Adam seem to like to do their own projects individually because they'd rather not be around each other and are only together at the testing part. I give the show another year, maybe two, before it dies quietly in a whimper.

Maybe Grant will bring back his Battle Bot for a new incarnation of the show (I can dream at least).

Haven't watched in a long time but the show got on just fine in the first couple of seasons without them; losing them shouldn't matter much.

Nerds will rage hard with the pasty ginger chick gone. Yeah it did fine without them when it started, but since they were added she's achieved a nerd boner status the likes of which I've never seen before.

A show cannot go on forever and any show that last 13 season's is doing ok. I am not show how much longer they are going to do this. I suspect that this was either a cost cutting measure introduced by Discovery to drive production costs down. Or Kari, Tory and Grant asked for more money and Discovery just decided to cut them out. Last year I went and did see Adam and Jamie's live show and it was fairly entertaining. To me it just might be time to end things with Mythbusters and allow Jamie and Adam to move on. I suspect Jamie would just go back to running his business but Adam might launch his own show.

Agree with this, but I'm not sure I agree because you're right or because you have a Valkyrie for your avatar...

Discovery as a channel already jumped the shark awhile ago, it started with the crab fishing BS, maybe a 2 hour special on it would have been fine, but to make it a seasonal show marked the end.

History channel is a POS too now with Pawn BS and all the trucking, logging and other non historical BS they run on that trash heap of a station.

It goes back even farther than that. It happened at least 2 seasons before Deadliest Catch with American Chopper. And American Chopper itself spawned from another earlier motorcycle series called Biker Build-Off. I think that was ground zero for Discovery changing from an intelligent science channel to a fake reality BS network.

Companies are trying to diversify to try to sweep up a little piece of every last possible piece of revenue they can get.

Newegg wants to be Amazon.
SciFy wanted to show wrestling, and show just how bad made-for-TV movies could get.
Discovery Channel wants to capture the important <70-IQ demographic.
History Channel wants to get the conspiracy theorists.
TLC wants to vomit into people's mouths.
News outlets want to show cat videos.
Movie makers eliminate creativity and dumb down their stories in order to extract every last drop of money from it.

All you get then is a homogenous slurry of sub-mediocrity, which is embarrassingly profitable.

Are there still myths left to bust after however many years the show has been on?
audiophile myths is something i've always wanted to see, but read that they weren't ever going to do them despite adam having an interest in them.

btw this episode already aired in australia and that announcement was just tacked on the end.
