I am listening to a station that plays Christmas music. They just had a song by Karen Carpenter on. I think she had one of the best voices of her time.

Thoughts?

Yes, her voice is fantastic, but I'm sick of hearing the same songs over and over again on the station.

"Merry Christmas darliiiing. Happy New Year tooooooo." AGGH!

No kidding, she should really cut some new stuff.

Hard to say that she was the best given the that she was a contemporary of Carol King, Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, and Joni Mitchell just to name a few.

Why not get Donny and Marie Osmond involved and you can have the most wussified steel cage match of all time.

... But where the heck was her brother during her sickness?

Where was her brother?

It's not often heard, but shortly before her death he did release a single as a tribute to her. I think it was titled "She Ain't Heavy, She's My Sister".
