I was just in Tokyo and went out to karaoke and now i want to set it up in my house. Does anyone know of any PC programs that are good/cheap to do this? Any recs on microphones?

Thanks!

Karaoke is awesome but for it to be so everyone involved needs to be quite liquored up with no inhibitions.
Self-conscious people ruin it for everyone.

You can get karaoke machines pretty cheap - I picked one up @ Walmart for about $40 a few months ago. There are also programs to play them on PCs, but I haven't tried them.

The disks are a little pricey - $15-$25 for the regular titles, which probably only have 2 or 3 good songs on. You can get custom discs made from some outfits for about $5/song, minimum 10 songs or something like that. Cheaper then buying 5 regular discs to get the 10 songs you want.

we have a laserdisc player that you can connect mics to and our family does karoake that way. we have tons of karaoke discs from Taiwan...TONS! Mostly taiwanese songs..but we do have some popular (at the time - early 90's) mandarin and 60's-80's english music.

sometimes I love being asian. lol.
