Smokes and Booze aren't working fast enough lets get the poor with dreams of making it big!!!

Lotteries are just a voluntary tax on the dumb. I guess Kansas wasn't figuring it made enough money with taxes or maybe they think they will get people from other states to waste money in their fine state.

I believe their legislature is controlled by Republicans so hopefully the Democrat Governor will nuke this. Don't know, a lot of states apparently control gambling beyond lotteries.

Apparently the Indians are upset as their money machine could be threatened by this. Frankly I just love how politicians pass laws preventing internet gambling only because they want the money themselves, its never for the good of the people, only the good of the politicians. Just like they have a stranglehold on smokes and booze; two more things that are bad for you but politicians will never stop you from getting; gambling is held to different rules.

Shivetya, this is one issue you and I won't agree on. I think it is a farce and nannyism to NOT allow casino gambling. I should be able to spend my money anyway I choose.

I think this is a good thing, kind of surprising in the light of the fact that Kansas has come close to being ground zero for bible beaters over the past 20 years.

I have no problem with gambling.

I have a problem where the state is the controlling interest.

If States or the Feds figured out a way to control Internet Gambling (tax income) it never would've been made illegal.

I think legal gambling generally creates more problems then it solves, unless you can do like Las Vegas does and draw in boatloads of out-of-state money.
