Kaby Lake CPU will it post on older mother board without updated EFI?

Hello my question is this

If i buy a kaby lake cpu will it POST without the EFI being update (not supported legacy EFI for sky lake only) or would i need a sky lake CPU in it first or use a USB thumb drive to force update the EFI with kaby lake cpu in.

Without a BIOS update adding support for Kaby Lake, it most likely will not boot without first being updated with a supported CPU installed.

There are a couple boards where the BIOS could be flashed without a supported CPU, but I don't think that is very common feature.
