I am having serious problems with a KA7-100, and hopefully someone can help me out. I am trying to put this thing together and it continues to lock up on me. The problem is that it is never in the same place. Sometimes it will POST sometimes not, it will lock on them memory, IDE detection, on the highpoint bios screen, and if I make it past that and try to install Win98 it will lock usually as I try to browse for the upgrade compliance. I have tried 3 different types of memory, 2 different processors, 2 different KA7-100 boards, 2 Different ATI AGP cards, 1 ATI PCI card, different hard drives, cables, power supplies ect. About the only thing I have not changed is the case;-) I have updated to the newest official release of the BIOS, ect. Now I did find that I was doing one thing wrong and I had the ATA/66 cables plugged in wrong (master plug in the slave drive) and that seemed to stabilize things a little better, but it still froze up and locked when I tried to install Win98. At that point I went to bed. Any ideas? I just downloaded a beta BIOS that I will try tonight, but I am completely at a loss here. All of the other components have been tested in other machines other than the motherboards, so I am thinking that it is a incompatibility issue. I have called Abit, but did not get much out of them.
