Ka-58 Black Ghost

The newest "invisible" Russian helicopter, manufactured using stealth technology. At the same time, the use of composed materials and a concealed weapons mount improves the helicopter's responsiveness, and the use of an internal mount and shortened external pylons makes it possible to carry on board about two metric tons of weapons, including a guided ground missile system, air-to-ground rocket launcher, and anti-aircraft missile systems. The helicopter differs from previous models by its higher maximum speed, its precision aiming equipment for its on-board artillery system, and its increased maneuverability and responsiveness. Maximum speed is achieved when the external pylons for hung equipment are removed.

Weaponry (6 mounts, 2 of them internal):
- built-in 30mm 2A42M cannon
- Vikhr guided anti-tank rocket
- Igla-V rocket launcher
- Kh-29T rocket launcher
- S-8 unguided folding-fin rocket

The drawings look nice, like the Commanche.

I'd have to wait for a real picture. My favorite helicopter is still Airwolf. It was awesome :)

It's NOT going to be very 'INVISIBLE'

Rotor Mast, exposed systems, external armament . . .
funny how that works.

FINE

Reduced radar cross section if you want to be technical.

And just so you know, the rotor blades are stealth along with eveything else that is exposed. And to point out hte obvious, that probably IS the Commanche with mods. Faster speed = new engine tech. etc.... Bigger engine implies more weight allowances for wesapons.

The US might have made it you know. We do sell arms to allies after all.

The Commanche project was canned last year for many reasons (one big reason that I won't go into). I really doubt this is real based on the pictures, and I really, really doubt that they based it off the Commanche and then made it faster with newer engines, as part of the reason the Commanche was canned was because its structure couldn't support the stresses put on it by its equipment.

Ain't no way the U.S. would make this and offer it to other countries.
Period, end.

Rotor blades are AIRFOILS, and airfoils aren't 'stealthworthy'
Reduced Radar Cross-section is all but voided by protrusions on airframe.
As soon as you add any one externally mounted component, bye-bye reduction of radar image.

Mast, 'Jesus-nut'*, & hub enclosure might as well be a flare in the night.

* = 'Jesus-Nut' is also know as the 'Swashplate'

Why the Comanche Helicopter was cancelled

FIRST PARAGRAPH:

The Army said it would use the $14.6 billion earmarked for 121 Comanches between 2004 and 2011 to buy 796 additional Black Hawk and other helicopters and to upgrade and modernize 1,400 helicopters already in the fleet.

Do the math - buy and extra almost 800 new Black Hawks, & upgrade/modernize an additional 1,400
exixting aircraft instead of adding a questionable 121 'New Technology' vehicles, when there would
be no sugnificant gain in building the new machines, other than keeping work going.

I'll take the extra 800 Black Hawks, and the work and technology that they provide, along
with improvements to 1,400 any day. Ratio of 121/2,196 = 5.5% vs 94.5 %.

Don't know if it's real or not, but of the few countries capable of building such a thing, Russia certainly qualifies.

I was always wondering why all we hear on the news is how great the US stealth bombers are, etc.. but nothing about other country's stealth technology.

The army lied.
The majority of the funding went to non-aviation pruposes.

I don't know how reliable this site is. I find some of their information wrong, but it says it should be operational In the near future.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/.../world/russia/2038.htm

I'll look for the pictures of the submarine. I know they were developing a submarine with stealth. I'll upload that picture tonight. There is another country that has a stealth ship too, I'll see if I can find that picture as well.

Was there such a chopper?? If so, that was kick arse. I use to watch the show just to check it out.

Fundamentally, the Comanche was killed by the Predator (and Shadow and Global Hawk and Desert Hawk and...). There's not as much need for a scout helicopter when UAVs are so prevalent and effective now, especially when you look at the numbers you cite on costs.

They can plan all they want, but they cannot even afford to keep their current ships floating. Their navy is in absolute shambles, and the budget is not sufficient to change the downward spiral they've been on for quite some time. Even if they do manage to build some great, new stealth ships, they will be crippled by unpaid, sodomized sailors stealing electronic components to sell for food.

There are many stealth articles on their stealth submarine, but they are extremely hard to find.

Funny that those images look almost identical to the chopper shown in Goldeneye, a James Bond movie circa 1995 (I remember that because I was in basic training at the time and it was the first movie I got to see in a very long time (almost 3 1/2 months).
