i have bios version 1001 and asus says not to use thek8sedx file to use the afudos if you have less than version 1003. i downloaded afudos211 i run it and it just brings up a dos dialog and then closes it. it doesnt update my bios or do anything as far as i can tell. The reason i need to flash the bios is because i bought a 250gb hard drive and windows only recognizes 130gb of it. and suggestions please help.

download the BIOS. rename it k8v.rom. put it on a floppy. press f8 (not sure what key) at boot. follow directions on screen. I was confused at first, too.

I would not recommend using ASUS's windows based flash utility, as there is a much higer chance of screwing up your flash by using windows based flashing programs on many motherboards. I dunno if it's true for this one, but why take the chance? I suggest flashing from the floppy.
