K8T Master2-FAR Power Question

I have a K8T Master2-FAR with dual Opteron 242's in a 'loud as hell' 3U rackmount case. The reason that it's in here is because it's the only case with a power supply that is SSI-compliant (with a 24-pin ATX connector and 8-pin CPU connector). The power supply and 4 tornado 80mm fans is what makes this painfully loud. I'm wanting to move it into another case that we have with two 120mm fans that run much quieter.

I know that I do not need the 24-pin ATX connector, but I do need the 8-pin CPU power connector? Is anyone else out there running dual Opteron's on a regular ATX power supply? The manual does not state that it is required, but it doesn't state anything like 'Board will run fine with 2 CPU's on a regular ATX PS'.

Please help

Thanks

I'm running it in the following config with a Truepower430w

Master2-FAR
2x242@1.725ghz MSI provided coolers with smartfan
2x512mb 2100 reg. ecc
BFG 6800GT OC@431/1.1ghz
120gb 8mb deathstar
36.6gb raptor
12cm+2x8cm case fans
DVD+r/rw
DVD-ROM

Rock solid stable 24/7 BOINC SETI load for about 6 weeks now. Here is a pic of what it looks like with a regular ATX PSU connected Since you removed the SSI only stickers to use that PSU you will need to ensure you use the correct pins as shown in the pic for regular ATX, HTH. 🙂

thanks for the confimation dapunisher. I can go ahead and move it now. I didn't want to break it all apart just to find out I'd have to put it back in the rack 🙂
