K8NS Pro--2 Sticks Memory Problem Solved?

Hi,

Just checking to see if anyone has had any luck with the latest BIOS, maybe F6 or F8, that had the problem with BSOD's/freezes/instability if you had 2 sticks of RAM installed on the MOBO?

Thanks!

Tom

Hi tommy2000,

I was able to get it working after some tweaking, and now I have 1 GB of RAM.

I have one memory chip in DDR1 slot, and another one in DDR3 slot.

When I added the second memory chip frequency dropped to 166 MHz from 200 MHz.
So, i started tweaking the BIOS. When I got to the BIOS I pushed CTRL+F1 to get to the hidden menu: "Advanced Chipset Features". There I found one setting, called "MAX Memclock" which was set to "Auto". I changed it to 200. I also enabled "Top Performance" feature. My CPU overclock speed is set to 210.

This is what CPU-Z reports:

CPU Tab:
Name ---------- AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (NewCastle)
Voltage -------- 1.648 v
Core Speed --- 2310.0 MHz
Multiplier ------ 11.0
HTT ------------ 210.0 MHz

Memory Tab:
Type ------------- DDR-SDRAM
Size -------------- 1024 MBytes
Channels # ------ Single
Frequency ------- 210.0 MHz
FSB : DRAM ------- CPU/11.0

Regards.

PS

I have F6 BIOS.
