K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI and Ultra 500W ATX PSU

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I just got a brand new AMD 3500+ and K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI mb. I have a Ultra X-Connect 500W PSU This Model. I've searched through google, the MSI forums. I've seen people say you can use the 20 pin, you can't. Some people say its in the manual, I personally can not find it.

So I''m hoping someone can tell me if I can use it. I got a BFG 6800GT OC PCI-E card with this also, and I'm really hopping the PSU will work.

Any help or thoughts would be great

If you go back up to the main thread you will see that you can use 20 pins by plugging them into the top 20 pins and leaving the bottom 4 pins empty. I posted yesterday myself doing just this.

Unfortunately, the reviews on that X-Connect are not good. If you search for X-Connect, you find some happy users but you find many people who say that that particular power supply does not provide good steady current and that the innards are cheap. There is a review here somewhere on one of these sites that exposes that power supply as not being recommended. Many have it working fine.

I second the vote on poor reviews for the X-Connect PSUs. If you are going to be running SLI in the future, you really should get a 24-pin PSU. I've got a PC Power & Cooling 510-SLI PSU coming next week.
