K8N Neo2 Platinum - Switch from BIOS 1.4 to 1.36?

I got my new system a couple days ago. Specs down below. It came preloaded from Monarch with 1.4 but was wondering if I switched to 1.36B, would it be worth it? Right now I've got HTT 3x, Vcore up 3.3%, VDIMM at 2.65v, 240x10. RAM timings set to 2.5-3-3-5 at 1T.

Also ... Cool n' Quiet (CoreCenter?) doesn't install on XP 64. Need to find something to monitor CPU temp. So far in the BIOS at full load after running Prime95 I'm hitting 48 degrees.

Do you have a reason or an issue you need to fix??? cause if you think it will OC better I can tell you I saw no benefit when I went from 1.37mod to 1.51....I think the only thing I have heard is that the percentages above 10% may not work, but that is likely to high anyways....

Duvie,

Which bios did you stick with? I have not flashed one since the 1.36, and I am getting ready to have some time to play again here in the next few days now that all my Christmas programs are over

I am with 1.41mod...All SATA issues are solved...no better memory timings or ocing ability...I don't think the SATA issue was even related....

May be able to stick with 1.36....

I generally dont like the betas so when 1.51 is more official I will upgrade...

Nope, no overclocking problems. Except that it seems like it displays current voltages too low. For some reason my vcore says 1.37 only. Which, I am assuming is horribly wrong. Guess I'll just wait until there's an official 1.5x. What's all new in 1.51 btw?

i have seen no voltage changes from 1.3 to 1.41 in bioses....This board undervolts quite a bit.....PLus and PastorJay can comment on this....It seems when you set it to 1.5v and don't mess with % over vid it really sets it to 1.4v or default of the scjt 939 chip....

However when I use it wth % (1.5v +3.3%) it seems to work out as a board that undervolts about .07-.08v which I have heard a lot...

Does it actually undervolt physically -- or does it just display it wrong?

Try downloading Motherboard Monitor 5. That reports temperatures more accurately than Core Center and it will let you monitor them in the system tray. I'm not sure whether it has a compatibility issue with 64 bit Windows or not. Also, Cool n' Quiet is not related to CoreCenter. To activate Cool n' Quiet you have to enable it from the cell menu in BIOS. You don't need CoreCenter to use Cool n' Quiet.

The newest version of COreCenter seems a lot more accurate.

I've switched to 1.51 beta and had no problems so far, but I'm not OCing my FX-53 yet. I plan on doing it this week now that I've figured out why CS:Source crashed like a mofo (my Neo2 was undervolting my CPU. 1.50 or 1.525 would only give the FX 1.47V)

I had not read this thread in a couple days. But you have it right on Duvie with the way the board is undervolting. I have also found that the temps increase pretty quickly with just small voltage increases.
