I upgraded my mobo from a K8v se deluxe to a K8n-e deluxe board, keeping all the same components. Since then my computer has been shutting down randomly whenever i play 3d games or run 3dmark. In fact, during the first reformat/reinstall of windows, it shut down during the install. What i mean by shutting down is that the computer powers off completely, without blue screen or restarting. the motherboard light remains on, and i can power on the computer immediately, but once i try to run those apps again it will shut down.
Things I've tried: Replaced PSU, reformat/reinstall windows, update BIOS/drivers, check event manager for errors. No overclocking going on anywhere. Probe shows me that temperatures, even during stress tests, remain under 40 for both the CPU and mobo, and they are consistent temperatures. The case and cpu is very well cooled, i even went so far as to blow a large fan directly into the case, but it didn't help at all. I'm beginning to doubt it's a heat issue.
system (stripped)
K8n-e deluxe 754
a64 3000+
74gb raptor
1gig (2x 512) corsair xms
128mb 9800 pro
480w enermax psu
could a voltage issue with the ram be causing the problem (read this about another mobo from a diff forum)? if so, are there specific settings i could try? I don't know much about tweaking voltages on ram.
