K8N-E Deluxe Something wrong with memory timings

I have this motherboard and a AMD 64 3200+ with 2x1gb Corsair Value ram.
I put it at 400MHz in the bios and have put it at auto settings. But the problem is CPU-Z (CPUid) shows Frequency: 167.5MHz under the memory tab.
It just can't reach 200MHz and I got pretty pissed off when I found this out.
I checked the manual to make sure I put it in the right DIMM slots.

Can anybody help me out with this?

I had the K8V SE Deluxe before and that motherboard didn't have good support/customization at all. This K8N-E Deluxe is about the same as it is crappy. Next time I won't buy an Asus motherboard...

Asus had put a bad tase in my mouth in the past, but for different reasons.

At this point, I would see if you can get the RAM running at faster speeds in another system. Is that possible for you?

BTW, I haven't been able to find the CPU voltage and multiplier settings, have you found those? I have updated to the newest BIOS.

On that note, maybe try the newest BIOS also?

Um... if I'm not mistaken the K8N-E is a S754 board right?

If it's a socket 754-based board, and you are using 2 double-sided DIMM modules, it will be FORCED to DDR333. This is a limitation of most boards with respect to the memory controllers on the S754 CPUs. Working as intended - you won't find many boards that will get around this CPU limitation.

Actually, I just installed two double sided DIMMs last night in my board, and as long as they are in the 1 and 3 or 1 and 2 slots, it should do 400.

For some reason however, I am at 300FSB with a 2/3 multiplier and it is giving me like 192 MHz, what gives?

Incorrect.

2 DIMMs should run at DDR400 just as mine do in my K8V-SE...

It does depend on which slots you use though, and I've found I actually had to reverse the order I put them in (1 Kingston, 1 Samsung) to get it to default to 200 Mhz.

Ah crap, sorry for not following my own thread.
In my previous mobo K8V-SE Deluxe, it did achieve the 400 mark.
I will have to switch the sticks to other slots to see if I can get my speed back up to par.

As a reply to homestarmy.
I don't like this mobo as it is bascially for newbs. It doesn't allow you to tamper much with the settings need to OC it manually. I believe my bios does have some automatic overclocker, but I won't be messing with that. Can't afford this mobo screwing up and burn out something.
Um, I guess I won't be OCing at all. I wll upgrade my system later to dual core or something. Hopefully within 1.5 years.
It is still definitely a good computer as it has a AIW X800 XT, 2gb of ram, etc. Definitely not obsolete yet. :)

As a reply to SunnyD. Yes it is a socket 754, but it should beable to hit 400 as explained above. :)
I guess the real down fall of the 754 chipsets is the inability to do dual channel. Dual channel isn't that big of a deal though unless you want to squeeze out every ounce of speed possible.

Bah I know this thread is old........ Ollllllddd, but I finally got my lazy arse up and messed around with the memory.
Memory - 2gb (2x1gb) Corsair PC3200 Value ram 400MHz.

1 stick in slot 1 - 200MHz in CPUz
1 stick in slot 2 - 200MHz
1 stick in slot 3 - 200MHz
1 stick in slot 1 + 1 stick in slot 2 - Showing 157.9MHz in CPUz (Sometimes changes to 167)
1 stick in slot 1 + 1 stick in slot 3 - Showing 157.9MHz in CPUz (Sometimes changes to 167)

These are the only configurations that yield full speed with double sided memory.

I also alternated the two sticks of ram in each test so I know both rams are capable of 200MHz in CPUz.

Conclusion: I FVCKING HATE ASUS...

If someone with an ASUS K8N-E Deluxe has 2gb (2x1gb PC3200) ram, please tell me if you get the same results.

Update:
I guess the only good thing out of this is I get to run my memory at 2-2-2-5 timings... 1T
