K7VZA won't boot from SCSI

Got a K7VZA with 3.2b BIOS and Tbird 900.

I can install W2K fine with an IDE DVD and HD. From there I could read from all the SCSI devices, and formatted my SCSI HD.

Furthest I've gotten booting with SCSI is freezing at the "setup detecting hardware...-ish" line, using an Adaptec 2940U with 1.25 BIOS, Plextor 40x, and IBM Ultrastar 9LP(DGHS09Y). I've also got a 2940W and Buslogic Flashpoint LW, but neither of them even made it that far.

Haven't flashed the K7VZA yet, as I don't have a floppy installed. Adaptec's pages about BIOS flashing plain scares me.

Any ideas?
