So I get this new KT266 board today, nice looking purple, stick in my proc/stuff, plug the power supply in, and, the red LED in the middle of the board turns on. It is also powering my mouse/keyboard even when the comp is off...

So i turn it on, praying, and thank god, it works. I get into windows, and at 1.4GHz, I'm getting 30C!!!! With an 8 dollar HSF, not bad. However, I did notice some temp spikes, under load it goes up to 46 to 50 C. When I try to OC it doesnt work at all. (I have an AYHJA Y). Also, my core is cracked.

The system works great, is cool too. Anyone know how to help? thanks

The led on the board stays on even when the power is off.
The mouse stays lit on when the comp is off.
None of the normal LEDs work.

well, the red led is always supposed to stay on (it some indication that the motherboard has power, something like that)

however, about your mouse and the normal leds, im not sure. check the website of the company that made teh board (you might have to rma it)

Yes it is normal.

My father has an Asus P3B board for PIIIs and it lights up the keyboard even when the comp is off, too. It seems to be a trait of some of the Asus boards. But it's normal. :)
