Well I just got out the book on the k7t turbo2 motherboard I bought with a xp2000+ chip already on it a while back and I noticed that it says it is rated for athlon processors with a speed up to 1800+. I hope I dont get flamed for asking this question because I am sort of new at this whole thing but just let me know is this ok..I mean the system has run with no drawbacks for about 6 months now. The only problem I have is keeping it cool (which I solved by keeping the case open and pointing a fan into it) but that I feel is due to the fact that I only have one 80mm Thermaltake case fan and the retail HSF unit which I am currently going to upgrade (that is if the chip/mobo setup I have is acceptable) Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here are the specs on that K7T Turbo2

Thanks,
Rich

As long as the board recognizes it as xp2000, then I don't see any problem with it. Besides, you have been running it for 6 months. The board can handle up to XP2600 with a bios upgrade.

It's indeed OK. Btw, if u hvn't update ur mobo bios to the latest...just update it then.

But be sure u know how to update a bios...failing which ur mobo could be damage.
