ok...i give. I dunno how to enable the ATA100 on this k7t turbo (6330 v3) board. I've looked at MSI's IDE controller driver page here to no avail. it only mentions a RAID controller, and an ATA100 controller for some other board. i didnt even see drivers on the cd that came with the board. nothing in the bios seemed to help out too much either. any help guys?

btw....for some reason MSI doesnt have an email link to tech support. is this standard MSI?? I wish i stuck with Asus;)

what do you mean?
did you install the VIA-4in1-drivers from the MSI-cd you should find in the mainboard-box?

If you paid attention, that driver is for the Promise controller, not the VIA IDEs. Try the VIA 4-in-1 drivers. Just a note, ATA100 doesnt increase your hard drive performance. Again, you didnt look hard enough, the support email is support@msi.com.tw.

odd...i installed the 4-in-1s...but after taking a closer look at the mobo...i didnt see any onboard controller chip anywhere. on my Intel CUBX board, i can blatantly see the CMD controller.
doh, i think i just read what i was looking for. on the mobo product info, it mentions "An IDE controller on the VIA VT82C686B chipset provides IDE HDD/CD-ROM with PIO, Bus Master and Ultra DMA 33/66/100 operation modes." so i guess VIA provides the ATA100 controller. not promise...

as far as the tech support email goes...this page mentions nothing about "support@msi.com.tw". it just has listings for marketing, sales, and some RMA email link.

anyways, thanx for the info guys.

Just like I said you didnt look hard enough, on this page, when you move your cursor to the MSI headquarters, it gives you all the phone numbers and emails including the support email.

The Turbo does not have the Promise controller, the Turbo-R does. But even the Turbo-R has IDE controllers provided by the VIA southbridge, only the RAID controller is Promise. That driver page was meant for the Promise chip.
