K7T Pro2a...ack! Don't start!

OK, MSI K7T Pro2a, Duron 800.
Start...
fan starts up, a second later it cuts off. NOTHING else. No beeps, no nothin'. Tried different memory, no go. Is this a "duh, you idiot!" error, common? Or am I dealing with a bad mobo?
TIA

are you using the button on the back or the front?
the situation you are describing sounds like when I hit the button on the back, everything starts up for a second and then shuts down. I would then have to hit the button on the front of the case, this happens in the new atx mobos/cases.

That board and some others (the Asus A7V for instance) do that routinely as soon as the power supply lead is plugged into the mobo. All it's doing is waiting for you to turn it back on via the power switch.

Turn it on.

My A7V does the same thing as well. I thought it was a bad board at first but I found out that mose new ones do this, as rhinox99 said. I don't think it's bad motherboard. Try it for a few days and see what happens.

Well, the problem was 2 things...
S3 Trio 64 AGP vid card...
230w noname power supply.
Got a decetn 250w on it and an S3 Virge and the thing went on just fine...as far as fans...I will be Ocing it, so a ThermalTake Chrom Orb...thx for replies.
