Is anyone running Windows 2000 Professional with their K7T PRO2-A mobo? If not, will it install/run properly? I'm planning to install Windows 2000 when I receive my mobo. Thanks :)

I'm currently running Windows 2000 Professional on my K7T Pro-2A.

Had no problems installing it.

Haven't had any problems running it, except that since I have a couple of IBM ATA/100 drives and Win2k doesn't support ATA/100 natively yet (will be fixed in SP2 for Win2k).

I had to change the drives to ATA/66 and no problems whatsoever, been solid as a rock.

So I would imagine if you have fairly common/popular that have decent Win2K drivers you shouldn't too much trouble using it.

:)

I am running Windows 2000 Pro on my A7V and am using my ATA100 drive on the built in Promise ATA100.

Thanks all for your input. I wasn't aware of the ATA/100 issue so that info helps a lot. :)

I really like to hear that too.
But unfortunately, until now my K7T Pro.2 A is NOT been able to install Windows 2000 Pro.( always shown: HARDWARE Malfunction).

Even NOT possible to install Whistler 2296 Personal Beta 1.

Friends: Would you mind to tell me how to install those Windows?

Please mail me: changtrf@mail.netwave.de
Thank You.

Dubya & barlav,

The driver fix for the w2k ATA100 bug is available at Orange Delta. Click on the K7T Pro2A link on top of the page, then on FAQ in the left fram and find the driver location in the lowermost FAQ.

/me not a big fan of frames :( but this site is otherwise outstanding for everything K7T. :)

Thanks dennilfloss. I'm glad there is a fix for it now instead of having to wait for another sp for W2k. :)

Rong, Have you ran Windows 2000 before on the previous hardware besides the Motherboard? Some hardware doesnt support Windows 2000. You might want to try taking out all your cards but the video card and try and install windows 2000. Unless its your video card thats doesnt support Win 2000. Might also try another type of ram. Make sure all your cards are seated properly. Are you sure your CD is good? It might just be you got a bad motherboard. Might try calling MSI tech support.

Good Luck!

Thank you BuckMaster.

All things are running perfect before on ABIT's KT7 MoBo.

Only because it has No UDMA-100. Therefore I changed to MSI's K7T Pro.2A.

The Windows 2000 and Whistler on HDD are both not running on K7T Pro.2A.

I then tried to install it new, all in vain.
No matter how the HDD is(UDMA-66 or 100).

Now W9Design told me his suggestion, I will try it.
Thank you W9Design again here.Too.

Best Regards.
Good Luck to all.

I would most definately be interested in hearing if the driver fix resolves the ata100 problem. I myself am having the same problems with Win2k. I have a 30gig 5400rpm Maxtor UDMA-100 drive and its running like a slug right now.
