I have a ecs elite group k7s5a unsure of processor speed because i cant get fan off. 512 megs of crucial ddr ram 266mhz. geforce 4 mx agp. When i turn on my computer everything seems to be looking fine on the pc, all led's light up and fans/hardrive make noise. The Monitor led goes like its acknowleding the computer then it goes back to blinking yellow like there is no connection, and does not register a picture or even flash, just a cold dark evil blank screen. *its as bad as the blue screen of death* I have tryed 3 video cards, the geforce in the computer, an agp voodoo3, and a pci *unknown* card. None of them worked. I have reseeded all the cards and memory and drives. Tryed a different monitor and nothing seems to work. The computer did work fine awhile ago but has been unplugged for 3 weeks. I had the problem before and remedy'd it with a shaking of cords and reseeding video card. None of that seems to work at all this time.

Any beeps? Any funny smells? Recheck all connections (cards, cables, RAM, etc) and clear CMOS with the PSU unplugged. I'd check the MB battery voltage too.

I've been through this same scenario with my new Shuttle AN35N Ultra. 3 Video cards ... yadda yadda yadda. As others advised me, it could very well be a power supply issue. What kind of power supply are you using?

This has happened to me several times, unfortunately. In fact, twice with a K7S5A.
Anyhow, in both instances for me, it was a fried board. I'd hate for that to be your current situation, but just thought I'd offer the option.

If that is the case, which I hope it isn't, try upgrading the board to the Abit NF7-S Revision 2.0 with CPU upgrade. I went from the K7S5A to the NF7 and I have no regrets whatsoever.

Try clearing the CMOS, as DieHardware mentioned. I had the same thing happen when I first installed my new DVD writer, about went mad trying to figure out what went wrong. Ended up pulling the CMOS battery and leaving it alone for awhile. After I put the battery back in, it worked fine.

As mentioned before clear CMOS and check the battery it could be dead. When this happened to me on my K7S5a I finally found the problem, a blown MOSFET. Look at the flat black chips behind the I/O ports and see if one has a big chip blown out of it, if it does it's a dead MOBO.
