Hey guys,
I have a K7S5A mobo (older version I believe) that i am having some sound trouble. Basically, i play a lot of games. I use a voice communication software (Ventrilo). I had originally bought a cheap sound card (Chaintech) from newegg. I installed it, i could hear everything just fine, but my mic didn't work. I thought it may have been a defective card.

I just got my new soundcard in (Turtle Beach, Santa Cruz) and i'm having the same problems. I've went to the bios and disabled the on-board sound. I've also uninstalled the motherboard on-board (AC97) sound drivers. I am still having trouble getting my mic to work. The drivers for the Santa Cruz is installed and te sound is great. But for what i need good sound for, it's useless if i can't use a microphone.

Any pointers?

Any pointers?
Open your audio properties and deselect "Mute" for your microphone. ;)

There is really nothing I can think of that would implicate a motherboard in this problem.
