I bought the OutPost 1800XP Combo... Getting closer to the perfect system...

Put it in... First AMD's RETAIL FAN SUCKS!!! It was giving mid 6X C @ full load... I put in a case fan. Now I never get above 45 C @ full load.

Second I had a Misterious random reboot problem. All of a suddon after playing Q3 or Unreal then get back into windows and do somthing else.. ANYHTING in about 5-10 mins it would just reboot. Anyway... I was reading around on the boards and someone mentioned that they used MemTest-86 v2.9 to check DDR RAM. I bought a cheap 512MEG DDR2100 for 99 bucks @ frys. Turns out the ram test posted it as bad. So, I replaced it with 2 128 meg kingston that I had laying around. Re ran the test No more errors and my rebooting is GONE! I now have a very stable machine running XP! :) I sure hope I can return this RAM after having it for a month with new one at FRYS.

The last problem I have is... Sound!!! in Q3 after viewing some of the videos in the game the sound becomes thrashed. Also, in Unreal the sound can become unstable distorted, then after getting out and comming back in it's fine. I'm just running win2K drivers that come off the CD. Using the SIS 7012 Audio Drivers.

Funny thing that the Audio and RAM worked flawlessly in 2K but didn't want to work right in XP. If anyone knows of updated XP SIS drivers. Please let me know!

Thx!

If you are expecting the onboard sound to work flawlessly in gaming with this board, you most likely will be dissappointed. I would encourage you to look to getting a separate PCI sound card. They can be had for well under $20 for a decent "generic" card. You could try to load the latest sound drivers (SIS7012) from the SIS download pages, but YMMV. I would provide a more specific link but the SIS site is horrible this AM and it is taking forever to load the pages. Actually it is never very fast, but just seems worse today.

Edit:OK, I got to the correct Audio page at the SIS site finally. Good Luck!
