K7S5A RAM configs (cl2, cl3) - (7-30-2001 BIOS)

Has anyone been able to successfully run the K7S5A at 133+ RAM with cl2 timing for SDRAM? I can't even get it to post 133 with cl2, but I can run cl3 over 150MHz. Maybe a problem with the ECS, or do you think its crappy RAM?

Has NO problems running 124 / CL2, problems only start at 133.

Its Hynix 7.5ns PC133 256MB double sided

also runs high fsb's with a stick of Infineon and a stick of Micron 128MB 7.5ns, but neither posts and 133 / cl2 either

oh yeah, I'm using the July BIOS for this board (original BIOS?)

Was there a problem with it running SDRAM? I'm not really interested in updating the BIOS as its currently very stable except that I cannot get CL2 to even post with 133+ RAM bus.

Thanks.........tried the 0110911 (i tihnk thats the name) BIOS and now it won't even boot 124 cl3/6/4/safe timing at 124.

Went back to the july BIOS, no problem booting 3/6/3/ultra with 133.

I'll keep trying

edit: that was the september overclocker's bios, sorry I wll try the newest 12/4/01 bios and hope that works!

good news, updated to the 12/15/01 bios and now my 2 year old Infineon stick is purring along at 133/cl2/6/3/ULTRA settings

unfortunately, looks like my rather new Hynix PC133 stick completely refuses to post at CL2.

Gonna try my Micron stick next

I saw the Hynix PC133 256 MB being sold as PNY memory at CompUSA. Seemed like a good deal since they were selling it for $34.99 with a free 128 MB stick (Infineon) + it included a Norton Antivirus 2002 CD (they ran out of the CompUSA brand memory and were offering the PNY's as substitute).

My K7S5A's have been working fine with Kingston Valueram 256 MB PC133's at Ultra/2/6/3 settings in the BIOS (version 010827) with my 1 ghz/266 FSB and 900 mhz Tbirds.

As for CAS3 vs CAS2 on this board, the CAS setting doesn't seem to make much difference in performance from what I've seen.
