Crucial has these two types...

DDR PC3200 ? CL=3 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 5ns ? 2.5V ? 64Meg x 64

And....

DDR PC2700 ? CL=2.5 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 6ns ? 2.5V ? 64Meg x 64

Only a couple of bucks diffrence between the PC2700 and PC3200... Tho the 2700 runs at 2.5CL, and the PC3200 runs at 5NS. What would you guys get?

Users guide says the the this MOBO will support DDR up to 266Mhz weather not you see it go that fast is a diffrent story.

Thanks for your help!

I'd get the better RAM. K7S5A won't be able to clock it higher than 133, but you can then use the most aggressive timing to make some use of the faster chips.

Well this is ommm Crucial ram. That is what I am trying to determin. I assume you say better (3200) But it runs @ 3 CL where the 2700 runs at 2.5 is that a big diffrence?

thanks guys.

PC3200 = 400Mhz, whereas PC2700 = 333Mhz. The Cas Latency is an indicator of performance within each spec. So while 2.5 is better than 3 (and 2 is better than 2.5), PC3200 is perferable to PC2700.

My OCZ ram is PC3200, and CL2. I got it at Hardcorecooling.com.

When you buy it, are you going to sing: "Tranks for the Momroy"....

ericlp, the 3200 RAM is rated CL3 at 200 MHz. Unless these are really weird SDRAM chips, it is pretty safe to presume that they'll do CL2 at 133. (That's because three clocks at 200 MHz is EXACTLY the same amount of time as two clocks at 133 - and so is 2.5 clocks at 166.)

Realize that this ^ does not necessary work the other way around. That is, while PC3200 will likey run at a lower speed of 166 or 133 with better CL ratings, PC2100 that does CL2 at 133 may or may not run at 166 or 200 at all.

Thanks for you help... These are going in ECS motherboards. They will be used to crunch data 24/7.

I got 5 of these... From Crucial.

Module Size: 128MB
Package: 184-pin DIMM
Feature: DDR PC3200
Configuration: 16Meg x 64
DIMM Type: Unbuffered
Error Checking: Non-parity
Speed: 5ns
Voltage: 2.5V
SDRAM Timings:CL=3

As Peter pointed out to me...

while PC3200 will likey run at a lower speed of 166 or 133 with better CL ratings, PC2100 that does CL2 at 133 may or may not run at 166 or 200 at all.

Anyway... 28.00 a stick shipped isn't too bad from a known brand name company. Hoping to push them to 2CL at 166. We shall see.

Can't really see paying more for ram then I paid for the motherboard/chip/cpu fan alone... :)

Actually, I said "while PC3200 will likey run at a lower speed of 166 or 133 with better CL ratings, PC2100 that does CL2 at 133 may or may not run at 166 or 200 at all.", not Peter.
