I just installed the k7S5A that I bought about 4 months ago because I had to buy the processor and didn't have the money back then. Well anyway back to my question.

I just installed it and it was just a quick pop it (didn't format HDD b/c didn't want to lose data) and when I start windows up, load the driver and try to play a sound the sound is so low that I have to hold my ear right up to the speaker to hear the sound. Now your probally thinking its the volume right..... well I have the volume turned all the way up everywhere...on the speakers, on winamp, in the volume control window and I still get hardly any noise. Does anybody know how I can get the volume up so I can accually hear it from a foot away? And if you could please try to stay away from that formatting word, I really have to much stuff on here I can't afford to lose.

Are you sure you have the correct driver installed? ECS's website has 2 of them, depending on what chip your K7S5A has.

And btw, this is one of the many 'bizarre' problems that commonly arise when people swap mobo's without reinstalling their OS. If you are using W2K or XP, you can always install another copy of the OS into a different directory and see if your sound returns. You can just delete that directory and the 2nd entry in boot.ini when you are done.
