So your CPU (a 1.4 Athlon T-Bird, 266 fsb) is listed as an Athlon 1600+ by the board during the boot process. Hmm.
Did you flash the BIOS to the current one that you listed, the 42902? The reason I ask is that if this is a Rev. 1 board, it would be very unusual for it to have that BIOS on it. It is practically the latest and was released long after they moved on to later versions of that board. There is one other BIOS that is more recent. It can be found
here. Although I'm not sure it would do much good. One thing that worked a long while back when things were a bit "quirkey" (for lack of a better term) was to flash back to an older version of BIOS. I know it sounds silly but there were some BIOS files that just worked well and were better than others. In this instance, you might want to try Version 010920 Release Date: 09/26/2001. The only other thing that stands out is your "generic" PC100 RAM. If you have someone you could borrow a stick of "regular" PC133 RAM from, that might be worth an experimental test; just for "giggles". Also, if this is a Rev. 1 MB, you will NOT see the XP stickers (they are white usually) next to the socket. Keep us informed. Of course, as you said earlier, it is running soooooooo good; might not be worth trying anything.
